Hard drive bay question

So... to say the least, my case has some really weird quirks. A friend recently suggested that I simply "flip over" my hard drives to gain about an extra inch and a half of space. I've never tried to install a hard drive any way but facing up, so is it possible (or a good idea) to simply flip them over to gain the extra space? Any space saving tips would be greatly appreciated.

Pictures from the earlier thread on my case:

AFAIK, most HDDs these days are perfectly happy running upside down. I've seen fairly recent recommendations not to run them too far off of 90, 180, 270 or 360 degree orientations, however.

As for "Is it a good idea?" I dunno. Pics don't help much. Maybe when I get home I'll try to figure out which way is up in one or two of them then be able to answer that part.

How are you going to add another drive when there is no drilled spots for an extra spot? Unless of course you mod the case to add another drive?

I'm not planning on adding another drive, just flipping over the existing ones to gain some extra space. Can it be done?

If you can, then do it. Otherwise, no, it can't be done. ;) :p
