Im thinking of buying a new hard drive for my computer. Sony gave me 5 recovery disks (which ive used) that restore your partitions and factory settings (OS and all the software, just like the day you bought it). My question is, if i bought a new drive, installed it, then ran the disks would it pretty much do the same thing, as if it was my old hard drive? Would the OS and everything be put back on there. There's just one thing im afraid of, is that my drive now is 80gb, if i spring for a 250 or so, will the disk be able to set up partitions for it? It sets up a C: and D: (C has 13 and D has about 70) I think there is an option that lets you change the size, but im just wondering if the disks would even work? Thanks.

Hi, I see no reason why it would not work. Anyway hard drives are as cheap as dirt now. Just make sure when you buy your new one that you know what kind your getting, IDE or SATA drive. You could also keep your 80G drive as is, I hope it's still working for you and nothing is wrong with it. You could just install the new drive as a slave drive. If you do make sure you go into Control Panel, Admin tools, Computer Management, Disk management , and proceed to set it up with a drive letter and that Windows can see the new drive. That way you can have a your original 80G drive and use that as your boot drive, then have your 250G drive for all your MP3's and games and movies and junk. :D

i know, but id rather just scrap it entirely, its on its last leg. hehe.
