hi guys,

i have a 60 gig HD in my desktop that i had been running fine for a few years, but yesterday it decides to conk out and starts making these clicking noises...is it gone? can i revive it one last time to make backups...err...im stupid i know

Well I assume you're using the same computer. If you are, try sending someone a file. If you have any hope of copying the data to another source, I'd do it ASAP. I dunno what might be clicking, but it may only be a matter of a little more wear and tear before it bites it.

cant access files on it.....argh the clicking noise does not sound good either....possible to open it?

doesnt sound too good......its probably dead. but try getting your info before it RIP

DONT USE IT!

secure a method of backup...IE get a new 120gig hd...

stick that HD in the freezer overnight or for a good 4-5 hours. take it out, and plug it in. and back up as quickly as possible. thats the last ditch effort right there buddy

it would be best to install windows on the new hd, then copy the old one to the new one, into a folder in the root

cools thanks for all your advice....why does the freezer help? i have it stuck in there right now...
