I'm partially inebriated with (or because of..?) my in-laws over this Thanksgiving. 'Murica

Happy Turkey Day everyone. ;)

It is for me. No cooking or cleaning this time. Just showing up at my in-laws with some decent store bought sweets and the party is on!

People with extended families understand me I am sure.

Happy Thanksgiving to ALL!!! I hope everyone has a safe and great day with their family and friends, of course that is really what is important isn't it.

This site is a really good group of folks and I really mean that.

No turkey for me. I'm currently packing up all of my stuff. I'm moving on Saturday.

But Happy Thanksgiving to all! I'm thankful for having found the new place. It has new walls, ceilings, insulation, electrical, HVAC and oak floors and windows. Just $80 more than the current place.

Happy Thanksgiving all! Nice relaxing 4 day weekend with friends and family.

Cooking dinner myself... ALL OF IT, and just realizing how fucking small my oven is. Roasting pan with a 14 pound bird has to go on the 2nd lowest shelf, which leaves a tiny sliver of a shelf to cook carrots, potatoes, any anything else... needless to say heat isn't circulating too well there.

Sounds like someone needs to upgrade his rig!

You don't know that half of it. It was just fine back when I was a bachelor and didn't do much of oven cooking, but now? Unfortunately it's a bigger problem than just "buy a new one", like kitchen remodel big.

Lets see, jogged 6 miles, got all of the leaves up, washed and cleaned all of the cars... Thanksgiving sucks. lol

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

No family this year, except my own immediate ones!

I'm going to go fry a turkey using my bulldozer and fermi

Heh, do some coin mining while frying up the turkey while you're at it.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy thanksgiving to you all! Thanks for everything that I have, didn't have, will have and I had.

Ok so the aftermath of Thanksgiving (not that I expect people to read/contribute to this thread anymore).

Oven was definitely too small, the top part of the turkey cooked way faster than the bottom, and it was on a rack too so it's not like there wasn't air circulation under. Net result dry as fuck breast meat, and questionably done thigh mean. Yeah I failed big time on the cooking.

My parents who came over hardly ate anything, so there's a metric crap ton of leftovers

My wife who argued me into buying a 14 pound bird instead of the 9 pound bird I wanted because "it looks too small, it's almost the size of a chicken" yeah, that was pretty horrible too, as that could have helped the previous problems a ton. Oh well I have a year to "upgrade my rig" :D However the big problem I found out (already did some looking) is I have gas hookup, and that severely limits my choices it seems as most systems are electric unless you get into the commercial-like size of things.

So you let the woman talk you into buying a 1080Ti for a Core2Duo rig and overclocking wouldn't help because it just didn't have enough IPC or cores. Then you find out your PSU can't even power the type of rig you're looking at? Damn...

Seriously though, couldn't you just forget the gas and get some electric ran?

Yup, and damn card had to be shoehorned into this mini-AT style case!

But yeah I could do electric ovens if I wanted, the rewiring is relatively minor and an easy access/straight shot to the panel. But this being the sunny state of California and we're about to get fucked proper style by the "you use to much, we'll charge you much more" utilities of the area (aka PG&E) I really would like to stay away from electrical appliances when I have gas available.

That said I really have no clue to how much electricity an oven uses, I would like to get a fancy induction cook top though, but those ain't cheap, even the cheap ones aren't very.

man, I had to leave early ... Happy Thanksgivings everyone
