Since today is Earth Day, why not check out this article on how to modify your computer sleep state to save energy, as well as keep all the functionality that makes you not use it in the first place.

Because of increasing awareness in the general public about energy conservation, the ability to utilize low power states on desktop PCs is incredibly underdocumented and widely unused. My goal with this article is to change all that, to help computer users everywhere utilize these low power states without losing any original functionality of their network drives or remote applications. Heck, if you follow this guide, you may even be able to save a buck or two in the process.

Nice article.

I think its a nice idea for home file servers etc.

I dont use power saving much because i leave my pc running downloading or doing other things in the background. It would be cool if you could do a half standy and turn off just monitor, reduce cpu speeds etc to still allow some tasks to run.

*Sings* Yes, I piss in the water and burn down the trees, watch as the creatures fall to their knees.

Earth Day is great and all...but it seems like while a lot of companies have good intentions on promoting it (like Mtv), they make it sound like global warming has NEVER happened & that the changing cycles of the earth is something that is ONLY man made.

(Al Gore does the same thing)

ah, what a hallmark holiday.

I don't have any catalytic converters on my car. I get better gas mileage and more power without them. Well, that and less CO2 is emitted.
