Hangs on boot w/ repeating beep codes

Hey, recently moved out to Philly from San Diego and had my desktop shipped UPS. UPS banged up the comp pretty bad, destroying the new vid card in it, and doing unknown other damage. After getting compensated for the damage, I bought some new parts and am now trying to resurrect my comp. I also had an old video card brought to me by visiting relatives so I could try to figure out if the vid card was the only problem.
Specs are as follows:
ABIT NF7-S rev2
AMD Athlon 2500+ (previously OCed to 3200+ speeds)
1GB (2x 512) Corsair XMS Pro 3200LL
20GB PATA hard drive (boot drive w/ winxp pro)
2x 160GB Samsung SATA HD in RAID1 config
520w Antec PSU
Destroyed vid card: HIS x800 pro ICEQ II
Assumed working vid card for testing: Hercules 3D Prophet 3 (nvidia GeForce3)

When I first attempted to boot the damaged system, mobo lights came up, short beep sounded (as per a normal boot-up) monitor remained black and an alternating High-low beep code sounded. Upon installing the GeForce3 and booting, I obtained identical results. When I installed the GeForce3, I removed the RAM and saw no damage, and did a complete rewire, so I am positive all cables are properly connected and the RAM is not physically damaged. I have also examined the proc and noted no physical damage, and reset the CMOS.

Any help you guys can offer is greatly appreciated.
 
Look up the beep codes for this board.

- grab a piece of cardboard or similar
- take the mainboard out of the case and put it on the cardboard
- strip the mainboard until only the CPU and HSF are installed
- reset the CMOS
- connect an external PC speaker if there's no onboard one
- connect the PSU to the mainboard
- turn on the system

The system should start beeping because of missing RAM/videocard. Verify that this is the case. If it isn't, then:

- try another PSU
- try another CPU

If the beep codes do match, add the missing component and turn the system on again.
 
Alternating High-low beeps tends to be proccessor overheat alarm.
Check itsitting flat in the socket and that the heatsink is making good contact.
Does the HSF still work ?

I removed the heatsink and proc, cleaned them both, applied as5 and reinstalled them and the system booted fine. seems like something just wasn't seating properly. Thanks for the help!
