Hanging Posters, not really modding...oh well

I'm going to be going to college in the next month, and it seems the college im going to is kinda pissy about damages to the walls be it tape, staples, or nails, and they charge you for it, is there some kind of material that is double sided and doesn't ruin walls that are painted?
 
When I helped my GF move into college years ago we hung all her REM/Depeche Mode/Cure posters with this stuff that was like some kind of combination of silly putty and chewing gum. Not really sure what it was called but it held the posters up pretty well.

Another option (if the walls are white) is just to use thumbtacks and a week before move-out day hit Lowes and buy a jar of spackle. Hit all the holes you made and noone will be any the wiser (which is what I did in my first appartment when I wanted my security deposit back).

I believe that stuff is called something like Sticky-tack. I know teachers use it a whole lot.

There was a product by someone like 3M that looked to be a little plastic piece with a strip you pulled from the bottom and it would stick to the wall and not leave any marks. Although, I think that was Christmas lights. It's been a while since I've seen it.
 
A warning to ya. My room mate used sticky tack to put up his posters, in the common area go figure, and he had them up for the better part of a semester. It held real well. However when he took it down, it left a blue spot on the wall. Now are walls look like a mutated dalmation. I don't know if it's the sticky tack, or the crappy paint they use, but either way, it sucks.

you can get this "sticky tack" (aka poster putty) in different colors to match the wall, so it won't leave spots. I'm sure you can get it at a kmart/walmart, office depot, or anything like that.

Here is a link to the blue kind, i know there are different brands of the stuff in different colors.

On a lighter note the stuff doubles as a flavorless chewing gum. I don't remember why I did that... ugh.. 8th grade.. probably to impress a girl or something *idiot*

I have the 3m brand in white. I use it to attach my speakers to my speaker stands. So far, it has held up quite well. I bought it at Westlake Ace Hardware.
 
small light tacks on any heat glue gun will work well. They come off super easy too--no damage at all.

I'd suggest the having the spackle regardless of what you use to put the posters up with. It should be a standard item in the campus bookstore too. I don't know how many times I had to run to a hardware store the night before inspection to get spackle putty to fix the holes in my walls. PS2 game rage is a bitch :D
