Hell, I wouldn't mind being a hamster in that sucker. Set me up with an interior 5" LCD so I can watch pron and im one happy horny little rodent!:D

Poor hamster doesnt have much place to go. Oh well, im sure he'll just make a little nest in the bottom part. Gotta give him a wheel though!

Next you should try to put a PC back in there, and run it with your friendly rodent inside... I can see it now

ha, a rodent psu.. thats genius

I would've tried to make an aquarium, personally. Yes, there's a lot of steel to work with...so there is a nice challenge.

Still, looking forward to seeing it completed!

Anyone done this? Post a link! and I'm not talking about a fishtank Apple Powercube, or whatever that mobile toaster was called...

Oh the joy of slowly driving a rodent insane with radio interference. :D

ive seen fish tanks in full towers, never a hamster cage, hope im the first

I give that pvc a week before he chews through it :p nice mod, i like it

i would think the pvc pipe would be stronger than the plastic piping they use in real hamster cages....maybe its a different type of plastic, whatever, im leaning towards a gerbil now since hamsters apparently stink real bad and this is going in my dorm room...

definately the most interesting Q500 mod ive seen in a while ;)

lol.. you really think a gerbil/hampster is going to be able to climb up that steep as hell pvc tunnel on the side ? probably only be able to slide down it that..

Haha, i was just about to say that. You need to somehow put a window in the PVC going up, or get some clear piping. THat would be a show to watch a hamster silde down, or even go up!

i looked at all the big hardware stores for some clear tubing, I needed at least 2" diameter tubing but they had nothing except for pvc. looks fine though. I've got to attach a lid today and then I might go buy some bedding and find a way to mod his water bottle to the case. I don't think the little guy will have a problem crawling up and down the pipe. There are plenty of hamster cages with those colored pipes that are completely vertical. Whatever, in the end, the case still looks great.

d00d..... the hampster/gerbil cases with the clear/transparent tubes have ridges in them so the rodent can get their claws on the little bar inside for grip. know what im saying ?... maybe if you drilled holes in the pvc, the rodent can get his claws in those..

just looking out for rodents in the 2k4.
lol

yeah, take a REALLY long drill bit, stick it down in there with the drill blazing, and justgo crazy smacking it up against everything in there and totall make it nice and rough so he has something to grip on to.

Also, if looks like you have this thing sealed up tight as hell... you DO realize that gerbils/hamsters have to breathe, right?

Bahahaha
thats so funny because its true! Omg poor hamster ;(

get a second PSU and making a working escalator for him!

or he can climb up your computer itself to get back in his cage, he might experience some electric current though....

stick a delta on that top fan slot and see who(you or the gerbil) goes insane first:D

looks nice!

just take a stick or something and set it in the pipe, maybe glue it in place, that way he has some grip

It won't last long in there... A hamster's urine is has a lot of amonia in it... the cage needs to be well ventilated or the hamster will burn it's throat... with all the amonia fumes in that cage... it looks like that fun slide is a slide of death... if the poor thing goes down there and can't get back up, it will suffocate because of all the amonia in the air... I'd rethink the whole project over again... I know from experience. Last semester a hamster walked into my room (long story and yes it was a hamster, not a rat/mouse). So anyhow, me and my roomates got it a cage and everything. It stunk the room up so bad... I took it home left it there, now it's my sisters. The hamster in a room thing is a bad idea unless you like your place smelling like crap. Also, just a word of advice if you do go for the hamster... don't use cedar bedding, those fumes will also burn the hamsters throat, and make sure it has, in addition to food/water, a wheel and a small hut that it can nest in(before i made one for mine out of cardboard it was acting really neurotic, like it could never be comfortable)... the pipe won't work as a burrow because it is so airtight the thing will die, and i don't think you want to poke holes in the pipe, leading right into your case.... woodchips everywhere....

The fish thing can be done, just don't use the tank filled with fish as a res for your WC setup. Sorry for the long winded reply, I just think that if you go through with this, things are gonna be unpleasant for you and the hamster....

just throw in a casefan at the top part of the cage with a few airholes drilled in at the botom front

i can't see him living for long ... the noise and enviroment will stress the animal beyond anything ... i can't see him living more than a few months.

Then one day he'll come home and smell the faint smell of burnt hampster because it got caught in the CPU fan which overheated and fried the little sucker.

swap the white pvc to clear so you can see the little bugger crawling around, the put some rubber molding on the front hole to clean it up a bit.

But ...

WHAT ABOUT POOP CLEANUP ???

lol

Lol that is sweet...I was thinking a computer in a hamster case when I first saw the title...

i've had several rodents and gerbils were ok... but by far the best were rats. Get a rat that looks like a big hampster and you can avoid the "omg do i need a shot before i touch it???" crap. They are super nice and pretty smart.

Make sure to get a male unless u want a hyperactive little thing that probably bites too. I have a male and a female and 1 is constantly running around but the male is chill and fun.

maybe you can mod it with a hamster wheel to give your Computer more voltage.
