HALO the best overclocking benchmark?

I am just wondering since I have run my 2500+ at 2300 and 210 fsb for several months without a hitch but HALO crashes between 5 sec and 2 minutes of gameplay. Lowering overclock to 2280 and 190 FSB all crashes gone.

Just insane :(

Your system probably wasn't stable.

I find that 3DMark2003 is a good test of stability. Just have it loop a few times (at least 3) and if it reports your score at the end, then your system is fairly stable.

Usually it's a good idea to use a mutlitude of tests when overclocking. Usually first I run sisoftware and do about 10 loops of the cpu arithmetic and multimedia. Then I run Prime95 for two runs and after that I do memtest 86. And if it passes all of those, I run 3dmark01 and game for about an hour or two.

Prior to running HALO I ran prime 95 torture blend test for 12 hours. Several rounds of MEMTEST 86 as well as 3DMARK 2003. All without a hitch.

So yes something is weird here ;)

But since I clocked down I haven´t had a single crash in HALO so it was definiatly an overclocking issue no doubt about that.

Not necessarily, that's why I game for awhile after I run all of those tests, Call of Duty crashed when my system was clocked at 3.1ghz even though everything else passed. Every application is demanding in a different way on your system, that's why you need to run many different tests to find stability
