Halo 3 on PC?

Yeah that's what microsoft needs. Another dx10 game that doesn't actually use ANY dx10 features whatsoever just like Halo 2.

Halo 2 was never touted as a dx10 game. It was/is a dx9 game that was "vista only" to help sell vista.

I was almost positive that Halo started off as an RTS.

Correct.

IGN.com said:
A longtime fan of old school science fiction, Jones fired up a new project at the Chicago office: an RTS envisioned as a sci-fi variation on Myth, chronicling a desperate war on a distant planet... called Solipsis. Also the name of the game itself: "One of many." The Crystal Palace, Hard Vacuum, Star Maker, Star Shield, and The Santa Machine all took their turn.

It went to a rough build before everyone decided moving
tiny army men around felt a little dull. Solipsis shifted to third-person run-'n-gun and picked up a new nickname: "Blam!" The planet became a Dyson Sphere - an artificial world built around a live sun - then a much cooler Dyson Ring inspired by Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. Focus centered in on a beefed-up 3D build of a sketch by conceptual artist Shi Kai Wang, finally getting the thumbs-up with a drawing of an imposing cyborg soldier encased head to toe in pencil-gray armor.

The Master Chief set foot on Halo for the first time in 1998, and he was armed to the teeth.

Oh good. For a moment I was worried all of my real life stuff was eating away at the important stuff.

Guys, no fighting. Halo 3 and Crysis are both great games. People who say otherwise about either are just haters. Everyone have a cookie.

That said, this video is so obviously fake on many levels. He even brings up the Xbox 360 guide! The games for windows guide looks nothing like that! How has anyone not noticed that yet? That alone is proof that it is faked.

Have you ever PLAYED Halo 3 or Crysis? Cuz you are clueless and obviously have no idea what constitutes a "great game". Now Hungry Hungry Hippos. THAT...was a great game.

I'm just kiddin'..they are great games...kthx....

Quite an ignorant assumption, yet a predictable one.

Obviously, you don't know the first thing about Crysis tweaking.
Stick to consoles.

Is it possible for you to go 1 day without posting your pro-crisis propaganda? Seems like everyone who disagrees with you, you want to give them the bloody butt.

You remind me of another member we had....Terra.

If you actually read the topic, Hax didnt bring it up. Someone else did, and its performance. Hax agreed with him, and then someone claimed he was dreaming because he got good performance.

The link you dropped is from Jan.. its now April. Time for you to let it go...

have to say, i played the first halo hated it never went back but then again i dont use consoles very often anymore anyway :p

Point taken...though I stand by my words.:)

As for Halo, never played it much as I found it boring. Only one I actually finished was Halo 3 but only so my friend could get the acheivements for Legendary,

The first half of Halo 1's campaign is probably one of the best FPS I've ever played (and I've played my fair share). The 2nd half was pretty meh due to the pathetic level design. I do have Halo 2 installed on my computer, but haven't really played it yet.

The thing about the Halo series is that it never so much was about fast-paced shooting like a lot of other FPSs but rather large, open environments with TONS of enemies. The only games which have bigger levels would be Crysis and FarCry, but those don't have nearly the same amount of enemies as Halo 1-3 have on some of the levels. Some of the firefights in that game are truly epic, especially if you're sadistic enough to play on Legendary. Also, the Halo games pretty much have the best soundtrack of any FPS that has ever existed.

Crysis is also a great game, although a large amount of that has to do with the beauty of the environments and all-around excellent production values. Crysis feels a lot more "polished" than Halo 3, for instance, but they are both good games for completely different reasons.

Then why, I must ask, do you need the dx10 DLL files in order to play the game in XP?

Honestly, the game doesn't look like Dx9 either. I would say it has a DX 7 appearance at best (on xp anyway). But, you can write programs to require certain files to function even if the program doesn't actually use any of the features of that particular version of DX.

.

You could argue that games such as Tribes, Delta Force,Battlefield games etc had much larger levels. I don't remember Halo really having many large open areas. I guess the initial bit with the Warthogs was open...

From a pc gamer prespective Halo just isnt that impressive looking in terms of gameplay, but to your average console gamer its probably fascinating. Im gonna have to say that Halo 3 looks really nice. Never been interested enough to give it a try even though my roommate has it.

You just named a bunch of multiplayer games. I was talking about single player. Halo's single player levels were unrivaled in size until FarCry came out. Even still, Halo 3 has some monster levels.

And yes, all three Halo games have plenty of big, open areas in campaign mode... the multiplayer maps aren't that small, either.

I already named Delta Force, which was single player and came out years prior to Halo. Ghost Recon also had larger open spaces and so did Deus Ex.

You damn dirty apes!! stop hating on halo just because it's got a great story and a kickass trilogy why must you nerds hate it? lol crysis? well maybe in 10 years when there's computers powerful enough to run it on very high i'll consider playing it. In the mean time i'll play a game 10 times better than it that I don't have to spend a fortune on and looks great HALO 3 SUCKERS!! *activate hate shield* muahahah

Im so tired of hearing this uneducated moronic crap. I CAN play Crysis on all very high settings WITH AA and still get over 50+ FPS....Anyway. i have never owned an X-box or 360 for that matter, but I did play Halo on the PC as well as Gears Of War. I enjoyed both of them just as I enjoyed Crysis.

Heh, didn't see Delta Force.

But... Deus Ex's levels were not as large as Halo's. Even the first one. Can't speak about Ghost Recon because I never played the original.

why do we have to hope? why was their not a pc version released with the 360 version? yet we have to wait for a port...
