Halo 3 for PC?

lol

Possibly but I doubt it. Halo 2 did not exactly do much for Vista.

in 3 years, and you will need the next version of windows to play.

What? I highly doubt there will be a next version of windows in 3 years. Don't talk out of your ass son. :)

MS has made it public that they are getting back on the 5 year or so verion upgrade for windows, so he isnt too far off.

Anyway, Halo 3 will eventually come to PC, just like the last couple games. It would have been a much better move to have a PC version at or shortly after the 360 release.

Just like it took years to get Halo for the PC, and years to get Halo 2 to PC, it will take years for Halo 3 to arrive on PC. By that time, the game engine will be outdated and obsolete.

Why would you want it? Halo is a mediocre shooter at best, but what it did incredibly well was make the online FPS accessible to console masses. In that regard it was extremely successful. That combined with savvy marketing on the part of MS and they created a console phenomenon.

However, when compared with PC shooters like half life, call of duty, unreal tournament, tribes, et al, halo pales in comparison. Why do you think no one clamored for halo 2 when it was released for windows? We have far better shooters available already that have a richer universe, better storytelling, crisper graphics, and better controls.

well said. I've started both Halo and Halo 2 and didn't finish either.

In before this thread turns into a console vs PC war

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner:)

Cuuuzz...he likes it and would like to play it?
I waited for PC to play Halo. Hated it (but liked the story). Gave part 2 a try. Loved it (PC). Bought part 3 because I have a 360.

Whether you think other ones are richer or more fun is obviously debateable. But it does have a fan base even on PC. You can lump Doom 3, Quake 4, Prey, and Painkiller that people just wanna have fun with. Doesn't have to be some technical achievement or rewrite the formula.

so? i've grown to hate the games, but i did have fun while it lasted. there are plenty of shitty shooters on PC, so there is nothing wrong with bringing one that is a little more decent than the rest. if you don't wanna play it then don't play it.

they might even bring it out earlier this time once they get that Live system up and running better and stomp on those console kiddies. ;)

plus it will save me $400 on a 360 when i have a PC that can play the games anyway lol. gears of war for PC comes to mind. so again....why the fuck not?:p

I was being sarcastic. Halo 2 came out 2-3 years later, and you have to have vista to even run it. which doesnt make sense because it obviously doesnt require DX10

well... you dont have to have vista to run it....

dont ban me.

Halo 3 already looks outdated compared to recent and soon to be released PC games.

Actually MS stated that they will release Vienna in 2009....right after they launched Vista...

No doubt, only by the time it's out it will be completely overshadowed by next gen games.

What do people even see in the Halo games anyhow?

My point was that it won't take them 3 years to release Halo 3 for the PC, and just like you don't "have" to have Vista for this one, I'm sure it will be the same for the next time, even it does take them 3 years :p

32 player serious sam 2 campaign, nuff said!

Halo may be a simple shooter, but it isn't mindless mayhem (as awesome fun as shooting countless bullets and huge explosions can be). Not particularly deep, but the comparison is hardly valid. Since when were options bad? Because SS2 has 32 player coop I can't reasonably want to play a different game unless it offers 32+ coop campaigns? You aren't changing anyone's opinion of Halo, just offering a point for existing agree/disagreements; however, you are welcome to contribute to the thread topic

@ OP: Since Halo3 has coop online I am anxious to see it hit PC. Given Windows Live! I may just get a 360 and resort to split screen, though. I am not keen on the idea of a pay to play service.

Still, you are probably better off holding your horses. Halo 1+2 took years to see a PC release and I wouldn't expect anything less from Halo 3. I probably won't even bother unless I get a chance to play on a friend's 360. 2 had be quite disappointed.

A halo. And then in the second halo six more halos or whatever were put on call.

Come on master chief, lets destroy more halos! Can't have but so many random halos spinning in the universe.

Ugh, I'm glad we don't have Halo 3... look at the damn console gaming section, almost the entire page is nothing but Halo 3 threads. I'm glad the PC board didn't end up like that... it's worse than when Bioshock came out ;)

No the Bioshock threads were worse. It was 20 threads about bitching about Bioshock while everyone writing threads about Halo is mostly about having fun.

psssss psssss halo 3 will be released for chritmas 2007 . it will come with the helmet for 80 bucks. bugie has broke away from micr$oft . as long ass the game has no ass error.

They'll do the same thing they did with Halo 2 for the PC. They'll wait until nobody cares anymore and then it'll be released just to get users to buy something else in order to try it.

Hey Bill are you reading this? Ok check it check it check it:
Halo 2 hardcore gamers on XBOX aren't PC gamers. In fact, most of them loathe PCs and PC games because they are in love with XBOX controllers and terrible internet connections during online matches on Halo 2. When a PC game comes along and there are people running around with 40ms pings, they get upset about that. Maybe if you could build in more lag into the PC version of Halo 2, that would be a good compromise. The thing is, the people who played Halo 2 on the XBOX are not the same people who play it on the PC. So, when you want to introduce a game like Halo 2 to the PC and force people to have to buy a new OS just to play it....well....good luck with that.

Halo 2's graphics on Vista look like junk. There's no reason to play this game when
compared to any other game that came out for the PC in the last 3 years.

This is not to say that there aren't ANY XBOX Halo 2 gamers that play the PC version. I messed around with the method to get Halo 2 working on XP (worked great...no MP though..bah), and I enjoyed having my aiming capabilities that you are gifted in a PC game. Also enjoyed having more than 30fps in the game. I played a couple levels, then deleted it. Waste of HDD space.

If Halo 3 came out for the PC RIGHT NOW, there would be alot of people who buy it. However, they are running after the people that are still playing Halo 2 on the original XBOX so that they'll buy an XBOX 360 to play it. Having no other platform on which to play the game is in their interest. As soon as they're done milking that, Halo 3 will be released for the PC.

Well I liked Halo for PC but Halo 2 was buggy as hell, and virtually looked the same as the Xbox version. Halo 1 on PC looked considerably better than it's Xbox counterpart did. Finally I had a million problems with the Xbox Live service for it and the PC. I couldn't even play the damn game half the time if I wanted to.

Considering how bad the PC port of Halo 2 was, I won't be looking out for the third one.

I actually like the original Halo on the PC but hated Halo2. That was a lousy port.
