I have been playing Half-Life 2 for a few days now and have been very impressed. So then other day i was reading a review and decicded that I would turn up my resolution. That is where the problems started i set in to 1280x768 and i guess my old 17'' couldnt support it so i recieved a signal error from my monitor. So i hit CTRL ALT DEL and exited the game. I ended up haveing to re-install it twice. NOW it will not even let me go into the game, when i click the .EXE nothing happens. Anyone know how to fix this????? and also is there a way to adjust the resolution now that i cannot enter the game, it seemed like STEAM was saving my resolution settings even after i re-installed....

Steam is woring fine, I was jsut playing. Anyway you need to completely uninstall hl2 and steam, then MAKE SURE you go to installation directory and remove VALVE folder, evenafter you unintall it saves settings.

My guess its either, corrupted, damaged or your registry is screwed up as a result of the install/reinstall. Windows gets pissed off if you do that to much.

Did you mean 'working' or 'whoring'? :D hehehe

Okay, so as to be on topic and not a spam whore, what exactly does Steam do for Half Life besides downloading content and restricting your ability to play. Any site out that that gets into the inner workings of it? I've had the odd problem in the past and am reluctant to reinstall it.

after uninstall sometimes it takes deleting and remainding folders manually before the reinstall
