anyone have n idea on how well my inspiron 9100 will run the "best game ever made"?
system includes:
3.2ghz HT prescott 800FSB 1mb L2
640mb pc 3200
ATi 9700M 128mb ... goodenough to play on highest or close too? n to hang with the big boys

will there be a noticable difference upgrading to the 9800256mb?

The 9700 is no biatch, you should run it pretty well at 1024by768 at least... and i mean At Least. Especially with that cpu and ram.

yeah it should be fine... 1024x980 max settings..... 1280x960 if ya wanna bump down some aa and af

sounds like it can happen, i dont plan on usin AA...AF 8 or 16x is a must @ 1280x800 widescreen

i wonder if my 2 year old 1800+ can handle the job. HL2 cpu intensive?
the 9500pro should keep holdin on, like it always has

erm.. maybe not so much, I think your 9700 would handle it much better than your 9500pro could. Mostly because of the cpu.

Actually, the 9700 mobility does not really compare to the desktop 9700. The mobility 9700 has 4 pipelines and 128-bit memory. Its basically just a higher-clocked mobility 9600.

Ohh yea, I forgot about that... That's still a hard choice though.. it'd be neck and neck but the 9500pro would probably win. 9700 is a great card though.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it is, all the new laptops with a Mobile X800 or Mobile 6800 are all PCI-Express.

Definitely get a M-9800 if you can it has 8 pipelines so its a lot closer to its desktop brethren.

Here are my scores on my Inspiron 9100 with a moblity 9700 64mb. I have a P4 2.8 and only 512mb of ram.

These are my settings:
res: 1280x800 (native)
model detail: med
texture detail: med
water detail: reflect world
shadow detail: high
AA mode: 2X
filtering mode: AF4X
shader detail: high
wait for vsync: disabled

at_c17_12: 43 fps
at_canals_08: 36 fps

If I push it up to high model detail and high texture detail and 4XAA instead of 2X I get:
at_c17_12: 32 fps

The game is quite playable at native resolution. It is less demanding on my notebook than Farcry was.
