So I'm about to build my first watercooling ever and currently thinking where to place all the parts.

The reason why I considered watercooling is because of noise from GPU, I find that even the best air coolers are not silent enough for GPU's.

For now I'll build CPU loop and hopefuly I can easily add a 7970, I think it might be enough with just a 360 rad.

In future I propable will have crossfire 7970 and then my thin 360 rad is propably not enough any longer so I need to add more radiators.

Same case, did the following:
- pump on bottom of drive cage, with tubing running through holes in side -> DDC with EK top
- 3x120 rad in push-pull config on inside top
- 1x140 rad in push-pull config on side back by CPU socket
- custom aluminum bottle reservior in 5.25" bays, strapped in
- all feeding Swiftech GTZ CPU block

Seems almost everyone has the pump at bottom, why?

I have Laing D5 with EK top.
EK Supreme HF
Tygon
EK-Multioption RES X2 - 150 Advanced

The radiator is not super thick: Aquacomputer airplex XT 360
396 x 120 x 45 mm

I also have: EK Water Blocks EK-CoolStream RAD XT 240
276 x 123 x 47mm

I also will most likely have 7970 and with EK7970

Horizontal fans mostlikely AP15

I put mine on the bottom because its the only place it would fit. Most people do that though to ensure good waterflow to the pump. You do not want to dry fire the pump if you can help it - can shorten the life of the pump (because the water actually help cool pump components also) as well as putting unnecessary air and foam into you system.

I've actually had layouts where the pump was not the lowest point in the system and it worked ok, but was a royal pain to get primed and going...
