Had to share this...

so i was looking for a new PSU and looking in the FS/T and someone had a BFG 1000w at a good price, reviews were favorable (i know, BFG is toast, no warranty blah blah)

anyway, as i'm doing some google-fu, this pops up under the shopping section:

http://www.yoursourcedirect.com/item?lid=27181368

so i figure, what the hell, why not try, worst thing that could happen is i'll be out $30.

so i thought "hey, i'll go post this on [H] and see if anyone has had experience with 'yoursourcedirect.com' and maybe someone else could get a good deal like me' but i go to check the product page and it's out of stock. i was kinda worried, but i checked the guy out before i paid and he's got a retail store on ebay with hundreds of pos feedback and the company behind yoursourcedirect.com has a good rating on BBB, so i wait.

got an email today that my package shipped, and i should have it by the weekend

funny thing is they have lower wattage BFG PSUs for at least a hundred more on the same site

I hesitate to put 'open box' 'used' items into my pc unless its something simple. I hesitate to trust a PSU so openly.

Worst case your not just out $20 btw...in case you didn't put that together.

GL.

if it blows up my other hardware i guess i'll just quit using a pc altogether, nbd. ps i've used a ton of "open box" "refurbished" items and not had an issue, i will continue to knock one wood and thank sweet baby jebus for his kindness in this matter.

Whoa! From the Johnyguru review overall it looks good; the ripple being the worst problem, but can potentially be fixed:

Might be worth ordering one of these myself!

i saw this review and was wondering if i should do that 2200uF capicitor in the connections thing myself for the PCI-e rails (i have 2 6850's with 2 6-pin connectors each)

I wanna know if this is legit. Let us know how it turns out. You might wanna open it up and make sure the board is proper compared to the pictures from the reviews.

^^^^^^THIS!!

Especially since there is no warranty to void anyway, might as well take a screw driver and open that thing make sure it's bits look right. Maybe even test with a meter if you have one.

And .... if it goes all wrong this is [H] and we expect to see pics of the burning aftermath :D

Heh, I'm temped to get it, if it is actually what it should be internally. I have a box if 105c Teapo caps that I use for motherboard repair. Two each on the two bad 12v rails, 1 each on the good 12v rails and 1 each on the minors and I think I'd have a rockin little supply.

Well like I said it went out of stock when I bought one, so there aren't any more, I'm going with price mistake and just hoping for the best, its not like its a bad PSU if it is indeed the one advertised, either way. I will provide pictures... surelyopwilldeliver.jpg

Really, its not a very good psu. With that much ripple, it will surely do damage to comonents over time. How much depends on the components own supression, but starting bad means it can only get worse.

quick update, don't have it yet, but the guy i've been emailing to see where it is has been responsive and seems to be mindful of customer satisfaction.

or maybe he's just dragging me along until the 45 days is up to file a paypal claim

edit: didn't want to bump this thread, so here's an update for 4/26

got refunded paypal cuz the psu never showed up
