Attention flight number 1337…this is the HAX control tower…we are experiencing technical difficulties at this time. Due to a repeated breaches in our critical network servers your flight has been cancelled mid-air.

Last year, hackers took control of FAA critical network servers and could have shut them down, which would have seriously disrupted the agency's mission-support network, the report said. Hackers took over FAA computers in Alaska, becoming "insiders," according to the report dated Monday.

Why do people hack critical infrastructure and medical systems? Really? Do you want to win Americas Most Wanted award? Do you care to be locked away in guto? Seriously.

Hacking into a company is one thing, but hacking into a system that holds the lives of thousands..... that's a whole new ball game.

Its the monkeys running the systems again.
wtf are these systems doing anywhere near public networks?

Why the hell are critical infrastructure systems like this hooked to the internet? WTF were they thinking? There are other ways to transport data between the control towers. Stupid, just stupid. The same thing goes for power plants, traffic lights and other systems like that. How short sighted can you be? Farkin imbeciles.

Ok seriously, I got into my share of stuff when I was young and wanted to prove to everyone that I was an elite hacker..But the jackasses today are just being stupid. You never never hack something that put's people's lives at risk, otherwise you are just a total shithead that want's to be gang raped in prison.

There are plenty of people who consider they have either had a harsh time compared to everyone else or have been shafted by the system (their own feelings not mine) such that revenge is necessary for them to feel happy/sanctified, etc.
By no means I condone it, but you need to get into the mindset of those who do such things.

Seeing as its inevitable that there are people who will do abuse/play with critical systems, why do they leave them open to abuse?

They always say the same thing. "We need to make it plain to them that their security need to be beefed up, and sometimes the only way to convince them is by hacking into their systems ourselves."

While there's some truth in that statement, the fact that this is their motive is probably a lie.

Not just hacked once, but over and over and over again during the last few years. That is a great job there for their IT department.

LMAO every time I read about one of these hackings I die a little on the inside. Why the fuck would you allow systems like this to be connected to the internet? There is a thing called a private network. Companies use them all the time. Of course, all they do is vilify the perpetrator. Is not the incompetence of the network manager an equal crime? I'll bet said person or persons don't even get fired.

Trust me, there are more government computers on the net than you think. However, if you have some shady InfoSec Specialists doing the job or rather not doing their job then this is what happens. Even with all the systems on the net, this shouldn't happen. But, IMO a system that is connected to the FAA's RADAR systems, ID systems, and even communications should NEVER be connected to a public network. Keep it stand alone network only. I don't care if it's a WAN, just keep it off the net.

Don't you guys ever watch movies. Die hard: Live Free or Die, Jason Bourne movies. Every system is connected to the net so the gonv'nt can get access to it as quick as possible, even CC security television. LOL

Yeah, Kitt is boss, he can crack anything.

this...unless it really is a security firm... which like it's been said probably isn't. I don't see the point here. You can get the same bragging rights from getting into a large company...and if you want to go after monetary gain this isn't the place to do it.

Now pull an office space, or at least hack one of the major criminal banks and profit, that i support 110%. the whole FAA and various facilities i don't see a point. IF you are going to go after something at this level, go after the dept of defense or military and get some classified files to share with the rest of us...at least that would be interesting.

Every country has their set of elite super human hackers. I bet almost everything has been compromised already in the government. The only place i would say is probably secure would probably be area51. China has hacked into us a lot of times already. No matter what a person does theres always going to be a hole in the system. They are only dumb to leave important data exposed to hackers online. Not even wireless is safe unless your talking 1028bit encryption or higher then it would take awhile but even then china or north korea could have a server farm that could dictionary attack it in seconds. Nothings ever secure online lol.

What's wrong with Jack Carver? Noone ever asks for him to come to the rescue.

Yes, why isnt the US government operating on its own seperate network, using fiber and satellite communications, in as hack-proof a manner possible.... after all they face real hackers like the Chinese and Russian army's, not just a pack of pimply teenage geeks.

Be nice if it was all EMP proof, etc too.

Why as a hacker wouldn't yoou target drug cartel bank accounts, etc, etc. You can buy alot of Ramen noodles with a couple $BILLION from Jose'. :p:eek::D

my thoughts exactly....... hard earned tax dollars paying retards......

Hard earned? Tax dollars are the easiest earned money anywhere. There is some idiot making 6 figures a year that decided that the FAA systems should be accessible to the internet. He is the bastard whose head we should be calling for. As a btw, why has \b been down for the last week? I miss my quota of Boxy.

Not just some truth. A LOT of truth. The motive may hold water to a point, but honestly, in the end, the point remains the same whether or not they follow that line of thought - some things should NOT, EVER, BE, ACCESSIBLE, VIA INTERNET.

Companies never make a move to beef up security until after the damage is done. Then they wonder why the shit happens.
