It looks as though eBay is confirming that a Romanian hacker had hijacked users accounts and posted records at least 15 eBay users on an eBay forum. The information was removed by the company within an hour. .

The posts were put up on the Trust & Safety board. According to other forum members who claimed to have taken part in the discussion and begged eBay to take down the information, the hacker signed in under a hijacked account and began taunting others, with the final result being the posting of the 15 accounts.

Sounds like the actions of one of the most retarded 'hackers' on the planet. Way to maintain a low profile, genius. As if phishing emails even qualify as "hacking".

As a side point, eBay/PayPal sucks.

it's not that ebay or paypal sucks, it's that people continue to click on fraudulent emails instead of deleting them and/or reporting them.

people continue to wonder why spam is such a huge buisness, if people click on something as stupid as a paypal or ebay password reset email, and use the same username/email and password for all of their accounts, what more can you expect?

"wait, your telling me you can email me ads and products every hour, that i may want to buy?! where do i sign up?"

Spam is a huge business because it works. If the spammers weren't making money, they wouldn't do it. Part of this is fueled by the nature of SMTP to begin with. You have two real options: be proactive and fix the inherent problems of SMTP, or continue to react to the threat. The first will probably never happen because SMTP is such a widely used protocol. Look at the adoption rate of Sender ID for proof of this. This leaves us with the only real option which is to react to the threat. With the spammers always a step ahead, you will always have a problem, regardless of whether or not that manifests itself in hacked eBay accounts or any other form.

I always forward Monster phishing emails to Monster. I have no idea if they see them or do anything, but at least I tried. :p

This all goes under my opinion, that certain things on the web should come with an IQ test to receive membership... If your IQ is -100 you really shouldn't have access to Ebay to begin with, its for your own safety guys.... really...

/sarcasm off..

I think this just opens the eyes of ignorance even wider, but they still really do not see the full picture here, not even half of it....

No, eBay does indeed suck. For example, note this. Pay attention to the listings with the sun icon (24 hour listings) and the pink ones. They say stupid things like "my ebay email full! please mail me here:" and list an email in the listing, that way when the auction is closed they have a long list of numbnuts to scam. There are currently 17 scam listings just on the first page. Now tell me, if you can find scam listings that easily, in two seconds with a simple search query, why can't eBay?

Um..How does that make ebay suck? If you are dumb enough to get fooled by that then maybe you deserve it?

So if I can shoot you in the face with a handgun does that mean that you deserver it because you are too stupid to have a handgun also ???

Just Wondering

The weak have rights too you know...

Side Note : Ebay does suck though. I have only ordered a couple things off Ebay in my life just because it seems like a site with way too many scammers on it

Cars for 1/4 of there regular price.
Cars located in Europe and they want you to send a $10,000.00 deposit.
