"Hacked" Creative Drivers?

I've heard about several drivers for Creative's sound cards, made by different people. What do you guys think of these custom drivers, and which of these drivers would be best for an Audigy 2 ZS?

i had an SB audigy LS which I tried to use in my windows 7 machine

There aren't any official drivers for windows 7, no drivers worked, but I found some custom drivers by someone (forgot his name, was a few years back) which did worked but caused many problems

I don't know why, but my PC overheated at a very high temperature due to it, sound was not very clear as it was on windows XP

I decided to remove the card and my CPU was down to 36 C after a bit again
 
Well there's two different sorts. One aren't actually drivers made by different people, they are just modified drivers. The common ones are the "Daniel K" drivers. He just modifies the inf files and so on to make them work on different hardware. Can sometimes allow hardware that is officially unsupported by creative to work or use newer drivers. It is still the Creative drivers though, nothing different or special.

Then there is the kX Drivers. These are actual, 3rd party, OSS drivers written by some other people. They have different functionality from the Creative drivers (like you can write code for the DSP to run) and so on. However they don't have EAX support and such, and also only work on 10k1 and 10k2 chips (live and Audigy) not 20k chips (X-Fi).
 
Last time I tried KX drivers on an Audigy they had issues in some games but that was a long time ago so may be better now.

kx doesn't have EAX abilities, perhaps that was your problem.
