HA Design for Non clusterable App.

I thought I would ask Team [H] on the posabilities of this. I have an large ERP application, that is not clusterable, and does not have Transaction Processing Symantec’s coded into it. The best it will do, is a primary -> backup server failover, then scan the DB for logical inconsistencies, and fix. The cost to insert the TP is cost prohibitive. I still have to make it Highly Available.

Is it possible to have a Virtualised server, running on a HA virtualisation layer, so that essentially, if a hardware node failed, the VM woudl keep running, seamlessly? I cant have the VM lose transactions, or be 'restarted' i.e. in the case of VMware’s misleading 'HA' solution.

I don’t really care what flavour of virtualisation is used, Citirx Xen, Solaris Containers, AIX VM, HP VM in HP UX?? openVM? Redhat, SUSE, HyperV... or other; I just need to have one VM running on a cluster of hardware that does not go down.

Any ideas or help on this would be great.

It seems to me that there must be other people in the same position, and I am surprise to think that this has not be solved...

VMware Fault Tolerance (FT) would do that too. Been out since 4.0.
