H80 noise levels?

I'm thinking of snagging a Corsair H80 as my first foray into non-air cooling. I've seen plenty of pictures of it seemingly working fine with my case (Thermaltake Element G) and it seems to be pretty dandy on paper.

However, compared to my current 212 Evo, what's the noise like? I've seen reviews claiming it's noisy. Is that compared with other liquid solutions...or air ones? I'm not expecting a monster overclock or anything - I'm mainly looking to bump things up a little and quiet things down a little.

It can be loud. It can also be whisper quiet. Depends on the settings you put it at.

High settings are like a jet engine, medium settings are... annoying. Low settings are near silent - my computer is set up like a bench right now though so its all open for me to hear. It would be much more tolerable if it was closed.

Mine's definitely enclosed, so at least I wouldn't quite have that. My 2-fan Hyper 212 is pretty loud even though it's 12 feet away.

In terms of performance at low settings - if I wanted to set my 3770K to say...4.5-4.6 ghz, could I just set it and leave it with no major issues? I think I'm done with tweaking. I just want to set something once and leave it alone.

If you have it set on the high setting they definately aren't quiet. if you can get one with a bigger radiator then you can get away with setting the pump to a lower setting.
