H50 - Use Pre-Applied Thermal Compound or Replace With AS-5?

Looking for opinions. What is the quality of the factory applied thermal compound on the cold plate? Is it worthwhile to clean it off and use a dab of Arctic Silver 5?

I suspect the AS-5 is probably better so the question really is how much better? For a small incremental improvement in temperature I would prefer to use the factory applied compound. For a significant improvement in heat transfer I would certainly use the AS-5.
 
I tested both to see how things went.

Go AS-5. Its given me 3C less.
 
shitsu lol, ya mean shin-etsu? even if it is, it looks like they really glob it on.

anyway, I left it alone and get good temps. :)
 
The H50/H70 use shin-etsu. I think it's better than AS-5 IMO.
