Hi all: I know that the thermal paste that comes with te H50 is Shin Etsu (Good Stuff) I heard that some people say Corsair puts too much of it on there. Should I clean it & re-apply a lesser amount? Like the grain of rice scenario? Or should I just leave it alone?

Thanks All!

Alex

PS: I have a few tubes of the Shin-Etsu X23 paste.

I'd leave it alone unless you're reseating it for a purpose other than just replacing the paste.

Ok...Thanks guys! I'll just leave it alone. Easier that way!

Thanks for your insight!

Alex

You should just leave it as is.

One thing to note, though, is that you need to make sure you get the right amount of mounting pressure when you screw it on. The manual with the H50 states that you shouldn't overtighten the screws on the retention bracket, but at the same time make sure that you don't leave them too loose, either.

I like to cleanup the existing paste and apply my own stuff: Shin-Etsu X23

I have done this to my H50 and H70.

Yes should not overtightened the screws. They are made of cheap soft metals and you don't want to break them. Yes you can get some replacements from Corsair but it will take few days to a week :(
