In another thread I read about a significant increase in efficiency and a reduction in noise by using a 30mm shroud to separate the fan from a radiator. The thread referenced an article where the author did some credible testing (albeit not with an H50). This makes sense to me because this removes the hub of the fan, notorious for being an air flow dead spot, away from the radiator.

Does anyone have any experience with fan shrouds? I am looking for other opinions as I intend to use one when I install my new Corsair 600T case Wednesday night.

I thought about buying a silicone gasket designed for fans against cases to use in a similar fashion. Also consider the possibility of needing longer screws if you decide to go through with it. Hopefully someone with actual experience chimes in.

I ordered a 30 mm Feser TFC Xtender from Sidewinder computers. It was only $26 with shipping so I decided to try it. It appears made of a clear plastic. I am not thrilled with the blue lights but I guess I do not have to plug it in. It is going to be interesting how much of an effect, with respect to using up space inside the case, the 30mm is going to have. Just hope it arrives coincident with my new 600T on Wednesday.
