H100i fan problems

Building a machine for a friend and he has a AX1200i and H100i.
Problem is that someone convinced him to replaced the H100i fans with Corsair Sp120 fans and now I'm stuck with 3pin instead of 4.

I have a NZXT 5 fan controller in the unit that I'm thinking of now controlling the 4 push/pull fans on the H100i rad.

Yes ideally I should just use the 2 originals or replace the 4 fans with 4 pin but its not an option, he wants the SP120's in push pull on the H100i rad.

Can I go ahead with using the NZXT to control the 4 fans or will the H100i unit get upset?

You're actually better off using the NZXT. The h100i can act up when fans are plugged into it so I would avoid that if possible. I'm using the h100i with noctua NF-F12s and have the noctua fans plugged into motherboard headers. Everything works great for me. If you just want the fans to run at constant speed but slower than 100% you can always add a resistor to the fan wiring and then just use the motherboard fan headers. Some motherboards also allow you to undervolt the fans in the bios.
