Another month and another interview....
He doesn't always say all that much here, but when a fellow folder needs help in a pinch, he is there to help out. (see here.)
Please give round of thanks to a guy from my home town, and he seems to have an underwater profession like mine too.........
First off, tell us about you.
Where do you call home?
Lafayette, LA, though I'm originally from Seattle, WA
What is your family situation?
Newly single
What do you do for a living?
I work offshore in the Gulf Of Mexico for a diving contractor.
Does your forum name hold any significant meaning?
Yes, it's my job title. Saturation Diving Technician
Did you ever post in the "Let's see your mug... " thread? Why or why not?
Yup
What other hobbies or interests keep you busy?
Gotten back into shooting and reloading after a long hiatus. I frequent the Firearms and Knives forum on here if you're interested in some of my toys.
Tell us about your involvement in DC.
I just run FAH.
Who or what got you stated in DC projects? About when was it?
I'm not really sure. I think it was a discussion about SETI@Home I read about. After looking around some, I settled on F@H
Why do you participate?
I feel it's a worthy cause, plus I'm a points w[H]ore.
If DC'ing could find a cure for just one disease tomorrow, which one would it be and why?
Alzheimer's. My grandmother had it. Seeing someone you've known your whole life not being able to remember who you are is heartbreaking.
What projects have you contributed to? Any others you find interesting?
None. I thought about SETI, but never got involved.
What teams have you contributed to?
Default. My first 500K points went to them. Back when I was only rocking a Athlon 3200 and then a dual core Opteron running the classic client.
Why did you choose the Horde?
This is my favorite forum.
If your current project ends, which one will you move on to?
No idea at all.
Current level of production and how's it spread around?
Somewhere around 250k-300k per day depending on WU. I have a i7 920@4.0 doing big-adv with a pair of 480 GTXs and an SR-2 with a pair of X5650s @ 3.9 running Linux and big-beta. Also, the odd PS3 if I forget to turn it off.
Where do you see the [H]ard DC sub-forum in the near future?
Pretty much status quo
Long term?
No idea Really
Any ideas on improving the [H]ard DC sub-forum, or suggestions or improvements for our Team?
Not really. We seem to have a really good bunch of dedicated people. Everything from technical help to hardware giveaways. Couldn't really ask for much more
Tell us about your involvement.
Where did you begin?
Started with F@H
What are you running today?
Just F@H
Where do you see your DC'ing activities in the next year or two?
Going to stick with F@H. Upgrading hardware as I can.
Do these boxen have day jobs or are they dedicated folders?
The SR-2 is dedicated, the 920 is a daily driver.
How are these boxen configured? OS, client, etc?
SR-2 is running Linux and the SMP client with big-beta switch.
The 920 is running Windows 7 and the SMP client with big-adv switch, as well as a pair of GPU clients.
Have you been successful borging? If so, what kind of borging worked for you? (For example, friends, family, and/or work?)
Nope, never borged anything.
