This morning I woke up to 8" of fresh powder on the ground so I decided to kick my feet up and have a little interview with everyones favorite IRC kitteh-kat, Elledan. BTW, anyone have some tape? She is shedding badly today, I am covered in cat hair!

About You
Where do you call home?
I currently live and work in Almere, The Netherlands.
What is your family situation?
Still single, living with a good friend until I can find my own place.
What do you do for a living?
I'm a software/game/website developer and have my own company.
Does your forum name hold any significant meaning?
When I had to come up with an original nickname for ICQ in the late 90s I did some searching, and eventually ended up at one of my favourite series: Lord of the Ring. In it is one elf prince, Elladan. I slightly changed the name and that's how it became mine.
Did you ever post in the "Let's see your mug... " thread? Why or why not?
Don't think I did, wouldn't mind doing so, however. I got an entire gallery filled with my photos, so I don't mind being seen
What other hobbies or interests keep you busy?
I like writing and reading stories (novels, short stories), maintain a weblog and have a great interest in listening to and making music.
Right handed or left handed and any military experience? (inside joke from the first couple spotlights)
Ambidextrous, no military experience. Terribly sorry if I missed the joke
About your Involvement in DC
Who or what got you stated in DC projects? About when was it?
I first started with Seti@Home in early 2000 or so, then found out about Folding@Home and went with that instead.
Why do you participate?
Because I believe that anyone can do science, and that in the case of F@H and similar where processing power is the limiting factor it is a lot more beneficial than donating to organizations. I also know due to my own medical condition (rare case of intersexuality) how terrible it can be to have something physical which isn't understood and/or can't be treated. F@H is one of the projects which can solve that problem.
If DC'ing could find a cure for just one disease tomorrow, which one would it be and why?
Cancer without any doubt. It's a disease you generally don't contract from external sources, but which literally comes from inside. It is one of the few diseases I can think of which actually frighten me.
What projects have you contributed to? Any others you find interesting?
Seti@Home and Folding@Home. I have looked at other projects related to genetics as well.
What teams have you contributed to?
Only HardOCP (33) so far.
Why did you choose the Horde?
I was familiar with HardOCP and the HardForums back then, so it seemed like a logical choice. Back then it wasn't the top dog either, so that didn't play a role.
If your current project ends, which one will you move on to?
Probably another one related to genetics or similar.
Current level of production and how's it spread around?
Pushing about 9k PPD at the moment using one SMP VM and one GPU. With some reinforcements from a fellow folder I hope to push this up to over 30k PPD.
Where do you see the [H]ard DC sub-forum in the near future? Long term?
I think it'll do fine, but it's really hard to predict such things. Things do seem very healthy, however
Any ideas on improving the [H]ard DC sub-forum, or suggestions or improvements for our Team?
I would have to really think about it. Having up-to-date guides and FAQs would be a good start, though.
About your Farm
What did you begin with?
Early 2000 I started with a single AMD Duron 600 CPU. I think I upgraded to an Athlon XP later on.
What are you running today?
After not folding for a few years I'm now running an Athlon X2 with a GTX275 (SMP VM, Windows GPU client).
What plans do you have in moving forward? Where do you see your DC'ing activities in the next year or two?
I'm getting some more hardware from Tigerbiten soon which will really boost my output. Over the next few years I hope to contribute more via my company, whether it'll be via company computers or with more direct contributions to the projects.
Do these boxen have day jobs or are they dedicated folders?
The system I'm folding on these days is my main workstation. The clients generally do run 24/7 except for the GPU which is sometimes paused while I run OpenGL/CUDA apps.
How are these boxen configured? OS, client, etc?
Windows XP, notfred Linux SMP VM client, Windows nVidia GPU client.
Have you been successful borging? If so, what kind of borging worked for you? (For example, friends, family, and/or work?)
I have made no borging attempts so far. I would really loathe to be the first person to get blamed if something goes wrong, even if it's unrelated to the client.
Is there anything else you would like to add? Did I forget to ask you anything?
Just one thing... I can haz more D?
Everything they warn about with it being an addiction is true, just FYI

Thanks Elledan!
