OK, not sure if this breaks the rules or not, but I've come to realize that in order to save some time and money and a lot of price check threads for each person we should have one big one. This doesn't just have to be for people selling old hardware, but it could help with people who are looking to step up and need to establish a budget for used hardware. With as fast as hardware comes and goes prices are always changing and it's hard for people to keep up.

So, how about we make a thread where people can post some hardware specs and other members who are more in the know can post prices we could expect other horde members to pay. Sound good? Now people could know how to budget their next moves, either buying or selling, would know how to go about it.

I'm thinking maybe one person could list their stuff and then whoever knows could go and quote the parts they know and then others could fill in the rest. Sound like a plan?

So, to start it out....

Intel Q66 quad core CPU, never OC'd over 200 mhz, and that was only a week or so

4GB Winfast DDR2, 800, 4x 1 gig stick

4GB (don't remember the brand) DDR2, 553, 4x 1 gig stick

XFX 680i LT SLI mobo

9800 GX2 (naked)

8800 GT (naked)

Cisco Catalyst 2900 series 24pt Switch (I know, its a stretch, but I cant be the only folder using 24pt switches in their house lol, that will probly go eBay, just need a rough idea)

(if this is not allowed or is a dumb idea mod please let me know, just seemed like a good idea to me)

I think this sort of stuff is limited to GenMay only, but that's only for the vanilla FS/T forum ..

figured I'd give it a shot here since we seem to do a lot of sub-prime purchases amongst ourselves, and it would all be in one thread, that way we could get horde specific prices, not just normal people prices. I think the big thing needs to be that this doesnt turn into a "o, you're selling that, I'll give you XX for it" thread. We have our own FS/FT section, we need to keep that there. If we can keep it just to finding prices for folding and folding I think that would really help us. I only thinks it necesary because we (IMO) change our hardware around WAYYYY more than any other subforum would I think.

Just a thought, if it gets shot down then it gets shot down

o_O a 24 port switch....wish i had the amount of clients to fill up a 24 port switch.....then again it would make it easier to connect everything lol

Silly question, what do you mean 'naked' video cards... No heatsink, or just no packaging?

I like the premise of this thread. A one stop place for a quick perusal of second-hand hardware and budgeting estimations. By centralizing everything it makes browsing and research easier. I think it's a good idea.

I like this idea.

I have four 9800GX2s that I'll be selling in a month or so. I'm hoping to sell them in our FS/FT forum, but it seems like there's not much demand for these among folders anymore. They seem to sell on eBay anywhere from $100 to $150.

I have one and was going to get a second but changed my mind until GPU2 is phased out completely. Your best bet it to sell them after September so your timing is actually right on target.

Ok, to jumpstart this thread, what about a pair of "special" E5530's? Great start to a budget SR2 build, gets 3.95 stable, almost 80kppd
