Can any mods or devs make a hardforum app.

I use hardforum everyday from my cellphone(htc hero) and if someone could please make it possible to access it easier, I would enjoy.
 
Try tapatalk. It was great for forum reading/posting when I tried it. I'm not sure if [H] is supported on it yet though. All the other forums I go to were a couple months ago when it was free to try. My trial expired and I don't mind using the browser to read and post so I didn't buy it.
 
I am currently responding using my Motorola Droid. While it's not as easy as doing from my PC, it's not too bad once you get used to it.

Definitely easier than trying to use Tomhardware.com's forum.
 
Oh, and also in case you didn't know; you can click on the little drop down menu at the bottom left of the forum and select "[H] Mobile for better/faster mobile browsing and posting.
 
Yeah, the mobile version is usable. Both are on my Incredible, really. Not gonna win any beauty contests, but we're [H]ard. ;)

I have 3g everywhere and enjoy normal version because mobile looks to plain. I don't mind too much using the browser but since I downloaded an xda forum app, I thought it could be done here too. BTW I'm responding from my phone.
 
Yeah, I tried the mobile format, but I prefer to simply surf the standard format on my Droid.

I just discovered tapatalk and think its awesome too. It looks a million times better then any mobile enabled forum looks. I just did a search for "tapatalk" on here and based on the replies it seems the staff is pretty dead set on not using it. oh well :(
 
This is one of the lightest sites around for graphics and such. Looks great on my Incredible. Looked good on my Droid before that... If you are already on android, then everything on [H]:f and xda is prolly more than acceptable... and that is why I will not be buying taptatalk.

On my droid this site is decent. The Mobile version looks horrible though. Honestly the biggest problem I have with using the standard browser on most forums is the constant need to readjust zoom to fit things on the screen correctly, especially when going back and forth between threads. Tapatalk looks intriguing because it can potentially consolidate all my forum surfing into one neat place.

I think that's one of the best decisions this forum has ever made: to keep the graphics almost nill compared to most forums out there these days. I visit some tech forums and my god, the graphics people use in their sigs, the avatars, etc etc... it's insanely hideous and there's no real purpose for any of it.

I sincerely hope the [H] stays with this format forever, honestly. It's nearly perfect for this place, and adding more or allowing people to use graphics for avatars or banners in sigs, ugh, that would just ruin things and jack up the cost of serving the site because of the increased bandwidth.

XDA-Developers is insanely popular as well, been a member there since it practically began and visit it quite frequently, it's one of the very finest resources out there for XDA based hardware devices (and now others as well) as one would expect. Fantastic resource not to be missed, and their intense love of all devices by HTC shows through.
 
Hardforum loads and looks great on my HD2, not sure what the problem is for you.

There isn't a problem. I visit about 6 different message boards on a daily basis and if they were all accessible through one app it would make my life simpler. Im sorry you guys take issue with that. :eek:
 
I hear a lot of people telling me that we need mobile app or this one....it changes every few months. I have yet to have anyone give me any actual reasons as to WHY we need them or what changes it makes in using our forums.

The HardForum was built to be lightweight and compact, and works just fine on many mobile devices in its native version. I use [H]Mobile on my Blackberry with ease using Opera Mini.

You guys can ask all you want, but I have yet to anyone show me why I should change things around and give me a roadmap as to what the benefits will truly be.

I have subbed this thread, put your money where you mouth is.

I would only like it for convenience on my part. I use Engadget's app whenever I'm on my phone, rather than the browser, because it's easier. Which I will say is a pretty piss-poor reason.
 
Just get ADFree (an app...especially if you're running froyo with flash) to reduce some bandwidth and its pretty much ezmode from there...

Isn't just making it more accessible reason enough? More convenient=more visits=more money. I read both engadget and gizmodo but i know when I'm on my phone I only read engadget because its just so much easier with that app they have (and I don't have a crappy phone, nexus one with 2.2) Maybe you could make a "hub" in the app with easy to find reviews/ocp stories with pictures and stuff...something similar to the engadget app?

When you are browsing multiple forums with a mobile device, it's much simpler for the user to just use tapatalk. I visit probably 10 forums or more a day with my evo, and his the only one that doesn't support tapatalk. Now, I'm not saying that the mobile browser isn't functional, but it'd be much simpler just to use the application. That's my two cents, it's not about functionality it's more about usability. With Android growing like crazy and available from multiple phone manufacturers, as a content provider(let's be honest, this is what [H] is) I'm just making the argument that having your content more accessible is a good thing.

I don't understand how anyone of you has a problem with the full version of the page... You all pretty much seem like you know what you're doing... PTZ + A Full, proper looking experience rather than an App that makes the forum fit the android UI sounds like a good deal to me. I'm running an overclocked milestone, I don't even get the option of custom roms to make it faster, and I find the experience plenty awesome.

I'm with Kyle. Why "fix" the forums by installing a dubious at best plug-in (VBull has enough problems ;) ) when you can just bite down and say "I'm going to open my web browser today!"

Also, Guy talking about ADFree, I think you just leveled your ban skill up to 1.
 
Mobile site is good, only thing I hate is that it takes you to the last post instead of the first. Other than that it works great. As well the main layout works fine just a bit more zooming in.
 
I must say spending any large amount of time trying to browse [H] on my Droid is frustrating to the point that I just give up a lot of times. The text is just so small (using the default Android browser with all text settings set to largest). I was in a car for a few hours today and found myself on engadget and kotaku plenty, but [H] just includes too much click, pinch to zoom. Click, pinch to zoom.

Other mobile sites are just a lot easier to get along with. I like the simple look of the mobile site, but it still leaves a lot of effort.

same thing with my iPhone. It works in a pinch, but it's a little too tedious to use for anything more than doing a quick search or sending/reading a PM. The "pinch, zoom, scroll, read, zoom, scroll, read" is really annoying.

Both the mobile and full versions are light weight enough that they're sort of redundant. Hell, I'd take an optimized mobile site over nothing at all. As Wheresatom said, 99% of the time I'll check out web sites and tech blogs with either a proper mobile interface or a native application for it's ease of use. It's just too frustrating using a design meant for a full screen on a little 3.5" smart phone.

hell, you can even charge a nominal fee for an official [H] app (or use advertisements).

The site works great. Worked good and looked good on WinMo 6 and 6.5 & on my old moto droid... Works great and looks great on my droid incredible.

I agree, the pinch and zooming is really annoying, i used the engadget app instead of the site for exactly that reason, everything is perfectly formatted for the app, its easy as hell to use, easy to read for a while, its amazing, if [H] Supported tapatalk, or made their own app, that would be awesome, and i would definitely pay for an official [H] app! :D

The site works "ok" and "fine". It doesn't work great. It works like any other site on the internet not formatted for a phone. There is a constant need to zoom in and out between pages and with the Android browser you are always readjusting your position on the page and zooming then readjusting. Is it doable? Of course, nobody has said otherwise.

For all those that are saying that somehow tapatalk is going to break the site because its blah blah blah, Its running on 5,000+ sites right now. A couple of the sites I frequent every day use it and they run perfectly fine and none of the admins complain about any difficulties. In fact most comments I have seen regarding integration on it speak of how easy and simple it is to do.

Anyone that hasn't used tapatalk should not even be chiming into this conversation. You can't possible see the benefits unless you have tried it. Every page viewed is formatted for the screen correctly so there is no zooming necessary. Pages load faster than the browser can dream of. Those 2 reasons alone are enough for me to use it over the browser.
 
The mobile version is not the bad. All of the other forums I post on use Tapatalk. It is great for viewing and posting.
