Since the beta just ended and the game will be released in less than a week, I decided to start a Steam Group. Retail bought players are also welcome to join, so join up! Check out our sweet logo! (Thanks to PingPongPay for the awesome looking [H] logo)

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/hardbc2

I want this group/thread to be a place where you can easily find people to play with and win games, so if you are sick of losing to people who would rather preserve their k:d ratio or snipe on a hill 99% of the time, JOIN US! :D Use this thread to post your game name, any servers you want affiliated with this group, playing schedule, any great stories from playing BC2, any pics/videos/articles related to BC2, and to set up any future dates to group up. This thread and group will probably be quiet until release so come March 2 I'll bump this thread up and remind people to join.

My Steam ID and BC2 name is Fliff, feel free to add me to your Steam friend list. My playing schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Weekends but during the first few weeks of release I'll probably be online playing this most of the time.

How to enter servers in game:
In the game client, enter the server browser, and under Filter options in the Server Name bar, enter the exact server name from below, making sure it's case sensitive.

How to contact server admins:
On the contacts line for each server, the [H] designation is their [H] Forum name (Link below) and the Steam designation is their Steam name.

How to get your server in the forum thread and Steam Group:
Just post your server info as close as possible to the template below and I'll add it.

In with Steam ID XI_Ace and BC2 name Broadside. Usually play at nights.

Wonder if someone here is willing to rent a server :)

Steam name is zepherws6
BC2 name is Zepher72
I bought a retail copy.

I am not sure when the EA Store sends out the games, so hopefully I don't have to wait too long to get my copy.

I'll look into the costs... I am really digging this game, so I would consider chipping in at the least on the monthly costs of a [H]ard Server. ;)

PS... I just joined, nick is [AI]Naraku.

Got it pre-ordered from EA, but I never played the PC beta. I did play the PS3 demo a few times though. I'll join the group when I get home. My Steam friends name is [VvV]-|GriMReapeR|-.

The crew I play with have a server on the east coast US. We haven't named it yet. hopefully you can add a server by ip in the retail client. If not i will update this post when we get a chance to name it.

Seattle is quite far from where I live, but I'll check it out, thanks :)

Good stuff people, loving all the enthusiasm and excitement for the game. I updated the Steam group and topic with the servers you guys posted.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I noticed NFO charges a lot more than other server providers. Is it worth the premium versus, say, gameservers.com? We're talking about $65 a month vs. $40 a month. I'm renting an east coast clan / [H]ard server and I'm not sure on the host...

Well There are alot of people helping me getting this going :)

So I will not take all the Credit, But this server I plan on keeping around for awhile :p

I was checking out the prices and so forth-- and because NFO can lock in the pre-order prices-- I'm seriously considering purchasing a server. I've done business w/ NFO before and they are a good company w/ good support. I also know that during the beta their servers had the best pings and least rubberbanding (though the later might not even be an issue in retail). However, because I'm not looking to diversify cost or responsibility, I'm seriously considering a private server (just for [H] members?).

Possible configuration:

Things I'm fairly set on:

Ranked (no sense it not ranking)
Hardcore (It can't be [H] if it isn't [H]ard)
Private (mentioned earlier, this just means the server would be password protected 24/7--which would help w/ admin/griefers/hax/etc because I'll know who has the password)

Things I'll budge on:

16 players ( 32 is great, but 2x4 man squads against each other, especially on smaller maps, is bomb)
Location (currently thinking Denver since it's middle of the country and NFO servers have good ping overall. But, I'm from the ATL so it's a toss-up)

Note: If I go w/ a 16 player server I will pay the 'high cpu priority' costs.

I'd like to hear some feedback before I pull the trigger but I really only have 24 hours so I may or may not pull the trigger tommorrow when I get home from work. If anyone is interested in such a server, helping out with admining or with donations(again, not required, but ALWAYS appreciated) please speak up!

Is there a set limit of hours an admin must play a week? I wouldn't mind helping, but I really don't know if I will have a set schedule of play

I would not hesitate myself.

My server is accually up, But only with the R1 serverside patch, The R3 should be up monday night or tuesday morning with more access and serverside options.

I am HOPING it will be monday night so I can setup the server before everyone starts playing.

Good luck :) and yes this is why I pre-order the server saves me $30 a month :)

Note: Even public servers that are locked are treated as Private servers, therefore EA/DICE will detect and treat as unranked.

I got this information by thinking of doing the same thing, to get around not being "allowed" to have ranked private servers, and spoken at-length with NFO regarding the issue... no dice, it wont work.

EA/DICE, if detecting a server is password protected, via their own software, turn the server into unranked until the password is removed (I believe the server will then go back to ranked, but you might want to check to be sure about that).

Apparently, they [EA/DICE] are very serious about not allowing any ranked private servers what-so-ever, and there's no way around it.

Just to let people know who are thinking of using the same method as I was, such as dot_Zen mentioned. I'm glad I though enough to ask if this trick would work, and I'm glad NFO was knowledgeable enough to give me a definitive answer.

I don't know why EA/DICE did things this way, but it's really irritating.
