Here is a challenge for all of you artistic types.
I have been messing around with this a little but havent made anything i like (yet)
But trying to come up with Desktop Backgrounds in theme with [H]ard team.
Folding, DC etc.

Anyone else think this is a cool idea?

Its another way to have a cool "perk" for people (without spending big $$)

Or maybe making active desktop items to monitor your stats etc..
 
It's funny you should mention that. When I did all of my renders for the folding contest, I was making them desktop size and then just cutting them down to badge size. I am actually using them at home right now. In that vein, anyone have any 3D requests (my 2D art skills are sorely lacking)? Just remember it takes lots of cycles to render them out... ;)

Doh, no hotlinky allowed! The one I did for the contest was just one of my [H]'s extruding and twisting out of a layer of balls made to look like a protein. It looks really good blown up, but when it was shrunk to badge size you couldn't see any of the detail.


 
I would host but they have a dedicated page for people to download their backgrounds,
plus i cannot access my accounts since everything is in motion with my having to get my own place and set up new internet service. *sigh*

I still have to figure a way to get all my old stuff off before they kill the other account.

Just a little cheap photoshop action.

It is an odd resolution (1400x900) because that is the size of my Laptop's display.

Now that is badass! Too bad its too late to get in on the badge contest, as that thing would look damn fine on the front of my PC!


 
I think it would be nice if someone made a little program that had a desktop that used your certificate, updating when need be.

You can take the link it gives you for the points certificate and just have it pass your name, and use that as an active desktop item. It's not the most elegant way, but it would do the trick.

 
Hmm. maybe xeno could make a little something that pulls stats like it does for the [H]
tags and then we could make custom "skins" for them

thats easy enough by enabling active desktop and setting any webpage as your bg such as I have done below.

Well the idea would be to make something besides a webpage, like a small graphic
that would fit a [H]ard "themed" desktop :)
