Met someone from here yesterday and they asked me to swing by. I figured my first 100K and first post would coincide well together. I hope this is the right area for the post mods feel free to move it if need be. Thanks

Love this card and can't wait to throw mods on it. :D Had some problems at first and thought it to be heat related. Turns out I forgot Nvidia doesn't like the same pci-e frequencies that ATI had. First results with the 8500 on dice and stock air on the gpu.

I don't want to sound malicious...that's a nice set-up with the e8500 over 5 GHZ....but unless you post 3dMark06 over 20,000 (at default res., not 1024 x 768) or Crysis @ 60 FPS on Very High 1680 x 1050 or above, i'm not too sure anyone cares.


Those are some decent benchies, though.
 
That's a wicked OC on that e8500! How hot does that thing run?...because I see you have the vcore at 1.720v! It's hard to tell but that second number looks like a '7' to me. If so with that much voltage that processor must pump out alot of heat.


Oh, and I'd like to see some 3dmark '06 as well for reference sake.
 
Ogilvy the only way to run 3DMark 06 is at default res. :rolleyes: I have already come close to 25k with X2 for the GX2 it should be a walk in the park. ;)

inotocracy I normally save 06 for my QX9650 but next trial I will see how the 8500 does. :)

evilcartman temps. aren't really an issue if I where to guess I was around -50c :D I am running on dry ice but single stage should easily match it. The limitation for me is FSB and the lack of X38 liking to run high. :(

I knew that..I wasn't sure if you knew that. One doesn't build a rig like that, just to post 1024 x 768 scores with benchmarking tools from 5-8 years ago.


Now how about some benchmarks that we actually care about. Like gaming benchmarks...from actual games. That PC gamers play...that aren't from 5-8 years ago.

I'll step in on Harleybro's behalf, if he doesn't object... He has been at this game a long while, and probably knows more about it than 95% (conservatively) of the other members on this forum. Read some of his stuff on XtremeSystems.org, when you get a chance. I owe a large part of my education to him during my high school years. :)

I don't doubt it...that's a hell of a rig. But coming in here to post 3dMark01 scores?? And no game benchmarks??

That's why I hate extreme overclockers...always posting benchmarks and screenshots for anything and everything BUT actual games.

So basically the 9800GX2 is fast with old software...ok. Hey did you know Heath Ledger died?
 
Nice results centvalny. Your scores are really close to someone I know except not sure if his where with the 8400 or 8500ES. No problem at all mavalpha. ;)

Hi there, nice results. Just curious as to what you meant in your first post about the Nvidia card not liking PCIe frequencies like your ATI card did? What was your ATI card running at PCIe wise compared to your Nvidia now? I also have my PCIe bus overclocked and am wondering if it will cause issues if I were to get this card.
 
nice! Was that a cherry picked E8500 or just one they sent you by chance?
 
As far as PCI-e goes ATI runs easily booting into windows at 130 while the Nvidia is liking more like 110. With the 8500 not really cherry picked just bought it through a friend. :D
 
Thats a hellacious overclock on that e8500. Makes me want to drop my Phenom and switch over.
