since BD wont be arriving to am3 boards, any reason to pick a gigabyte 890fx over gigabyte 890gx?

as far as i know the differences are back panel connections and gx only allows dual cards to run at 8x vs fx's 16x.

need gigabyte because i need 7+ sata connections and the asus only has 6.

everywhere i go people tell me to stay away from the gigabyte 890gx due to tons of problems with it, same as the msi 890fx another board i really liked the looks of.

im looking to put in a 1055t 95w and overclocking it to 4ghz with a corsair h70, and im not interested in running crossfire/sli but may one day get a physics card if needed.

is the build quality on the gigabyte 890fx really that much nicer then the gigabyte 890gx or msi 890fx?

I jsut want to know where you plan to find a 95w 1055t at..

to answer your question the gx has integrated graphis where the fx does not.. Get the FX if you can since it sounds like your using a dedicated card, but if you want the gx then dont hesitate even if some people have had problems. Ultimately a crappy gigabyte is still better then an awesome biostar or jetway or something like that.

I wish there was a chipset with GX features except for the graphics, something like a 890X. That way money would not need to be wasted on discrete graphics for people who have no intension of using it.

actually i could use it, i wont be buying a gpu untill november =\. was just going to beg a friend to borrow his if i got a fx.

and i know of the feature differences between the two gigabytes however, ive been told a bunch of times that the 890gx breaks alot more often or something. i forget what exactly i was told and where i was told at.

Can you explain your meanings for the word "Break"?

He may be reffering to the MSI's 890gx that were burning up due to the lack of power it could redily provide to a highly OC'd Hex core chip.

I am running the Gigabyte 890GX board (there's only one), and I have encountered no problems at this point.

I currently have a 1055t oc'd to 3.8 on air, with a x14 multiplier and 270 fsb. Core voltage bump of .025.
