Hey guys, yes I know, not another " I need a psu" thread, but this one is kinda different..hehe

anyways..my birthday is coming...may10th..and I am ready for some cash..so....

I need a bang for the buck powersupply...I am looking @ teh fortron 520@ newegg.com..my first choice..for bang for the buck..but is there anything else since the last time I looked @ psu? that is bang for the buck hehe....around 90 bucks+/- 10 bucks.

and this is just for an agp system and specs is in my sig too....

ahh I just looked @ the antec truepower2 series @ newegg....are these any good? all of them ahve dual rails and stuff...even the 430w version..or 380w...

Fortron 520W? I'm assuming that's an ATX12V v1.3 PSU? Fortron does have some solid ATX12V v2.0 PSUs out there, namely the Blue Storm series. Dual +12V rails to split the load. That's the main perk with v2.0 versus v1.3. I'll post up some links to other good choices also.

Fortron Blue Storm AX500-A
OCZ Powerstream 420W (a v1.3 Hybrid but also a very good choice)
Seasonic S12-430 (quiet++)

opps I meant 530w hehe...but thnx for those suggestions..i ma check them out

For the $90 price range the Bluestorm is probably the most tried and tested ATX12V 2.0 PSU. It is also the preferred overclocking PSU used on the DFI forums specifically for the Lanparty NF4 series. Any of the above choices will easily power your system, but choosing an ATX12V 2.0 PSU will increase the chances that it will work with your next upgrade.

The Truepower 2 550W is really new and I haven't found any good reviews on it yet, but on paper it looks good; and for those numbers $110 isn't a bad price. 19a on each 12V rail should give it some longevity for future CPU and PCI-E video upgrades.

Also for $110, pick up the Antec NeoPower480W. It's also ATX2.0, with 33A split between two 12V lines. It's modular, and it should be virtually silent with a 120mm fan.

yeah, that's a good psu..but isnt the new 550w TP-2 the same thing? with 19amp on dual 12v rails..and cost the same thing @ newegg a better choice?

LKS:
First one should be avoided, it's based on the outdated ATX spec (1.3, I guess?) Its 12V line is good, but there's only one. ATX2.0 calls for a split-rail.
I've heard good things about the second one, but I have a fear of PSU's with more than one fan. I would also advise keeping a -5V line, at least for the time being. It's no longer part of the spec, but many mobos and other accessories still require it to function properly.

aZn:
The two have their similarities, but the Neo trades a few extra amps/watts for the novelty of being modular. The DFI forum mods recommend 480W or higher, so that's good enough advice for me. 33A is plenty, IMO. Even they say 28A is enough for a single card, 33ish is enough even for SLI.

Another vote for the Forton Blue Storm 500W. I had it running an OCed P4/6800GT system with 5 hard drives, 4x 12" CC Lights, and 7 fans with no problems at all. Right now its powering my file server, since I needed a little more power for SLI.

x-connect? hehe sorry I dont want my system blowing up ahhh nvm! hehe..that's the ultra power supplies hehe
That's not an x-connect. It's a TTGI/Superflower 550 Modular psu. For some reason Directron mislabled them with x-connect in the product name line. Xoxide has the same psu - http://xoxide.com/superflower-ttgi-plug-n-550w-ps.html - but they go out of stock within hours. I gave you a link to a place that has them in stock.

bah....I narrowed my choices down now..hehe...

antec neopower 480w/ antec truepower-2 550w/ fortron 500w BlueStorm.

the neopower and 550w truepower 2 both cost the same thing..109...the truepower 2 550 is strong... 38amps on 12v compared to the neopower's 33. But it doesnt have sleeved cables.....

the fortron 500w is not as strong as the rest...but is pretty good..cost alot less..BLUE...and has sleeved cables too..although not quite as good as the neopower....

SOOOOO I am leaning towards the Fortron 500w BlueStorm + Nec's 3502a DVD+/- DL 16x DL burner....

or just one of the antec's PSU and no burner...hehe

well..I guess I could..but the 12v rail isn't s high for a 550w psu  :)

any more input about this superflowere psu? thnx
oo yeha and i forgot about teh ocz powerstream 520...125 bucks though ;(

30A is enough to satisfy any system you would be using a single rail on anyway (not server/SLI). Somebody on here bought one a few days ago, the name escapes me, but Superflower has a high enough reputation where you can just buy by the name and know you are getting a quality unit
