Hey. I've had Guild Wars for a few weeks, and as recently as three days ago, about 50% of the time I exit the game, my computer restarts. It even happens if I exit by minimizing and ending task in the task manager. I have no idea what's going on..

Here are my computer specs, let me know if you can diagnose a problem...

Athlon XP 2400+
Abit NF7-S v2 nForce 2 Ultra 400 Motherboard
512MB PC2700 Kingston HyperX(Dual channel) --> I'll have 1GB PC3200 Corsair XMS single channel in a few days
GeForce 6600GT 128MB AGP 8x
SB Live! 5.1
Antec TruePower 430 power supply sitting in a Lian-Li PC-65 USB case.

Load temps are: Case: 38C CPU: 50C

Did you happen to install BF2 demo recently and update to that driver? I did and i had the exact same problem with Guild Wars. Grab the latest driver from nVidia ( I have a 6600GT but PCI-E) It fixed it for me.

I did indeed install (and uninstall) the BF2 demo, but I think I have the latest drivers from the nvidia site. However, I'll reinstall them again just to be safe. I'll keep you updated.

oh i've been having this happen to me as well. I didn't think about it being those drivers, i'll go snaggle up the newer ones asap.

I still get the problem even after installing latest drivers and motherboard BIOS. Here's a suggestion from an identical post I made on the Guild Wars Vault forums. I haven't tried it yet...anyone think it's a good idea? I'm reluctant because they're based on quite old forcewares.

Come to think of it though....I don't think I had the problem until I installed the 77.72....

Which was the last officially released set of nvidia drivers? 71.89?

I have a couple ideas that may help. we have a 6600 here too and had several problems.

they are all solved.

You could try these suggestions:

change Dram setting in BIOS from (BySpd) to (Auto)

*goto http://drivercleaner.net download regular version or SE version, save to a folder

*goto http://omegadrivers.net on the top navbar for that site..click on Card Type....then when the top NavBar changes, choose the Operating Sys.

save to folder.

*Install drivercleaner and wait for later use.

*go in Control Panel to ADD/REMOVE programs...remove ALL your graphics drivers for ALL CARDS.

*Open DriverCleaner, you will see two boxes with a list in the left side. ANY videocards or drivers you HAVE or HAD on your comp, choose them from the left side..and ADD them to the right side.

after you choose all the drivers you want Cleansed from your comp....click the "GO" START or "CLEAN" button.

this will go thru and clean out all the trash other drivers have scattered around.

After cleaner is done...go into the download folder and "RUN" the Omegadriver. it will autoextract for you.

*Click the new icon the extractor has provided in that folder.I think it may be colored with a red logo now.

When Omega is done loading.(when your installing it doesnt matter if you choose to have MultiRes on or off, you will see this while clicking all the "next' buttons to get the install to start.)

Restart comp.

Just uninstalled Forceware 77.72, ran driver cleaner, and installed Forceware 71.89. I'll let you know how that goes.

Well...it might be a little bit early to tell.....but my problem seems to be gone now that I've installed the 71.89 drivers.
