Guides for Server Side Modding on BF2

I was wondering if anybody knows of any guides on how to mod BF2 maps server side for unranked matches (I'm talking about things like adding an extra plane/tank/vehicle on a map without requiring clients to download special files for the mod to work). I remember that this was fairly common in the days of Battlefield 1942.
