I'm running a GTXP and Klipsche 5.1's. Sometimes the speakers or headphones, whichever is enabled, will just start squeeling. It goes away if I restart. Does anybody have any suggestions or ideas about what this problem is and how I should go about fixing it?

i think i remember this problem WAY back with gtxp's...are you using the newest drivers?
 
Yeah, I don't think they've been updated in a while. I'll check the site, though.

Have you tried reinstalling drivers?
 
i've almost decided to replace my GTXP because music skips while typing sometimes, it's really quite annoying. I'm just so reluctant on replacing it because at one point or another i've used all the outputs and inputs :(
 
So this thing is just cursed and has no possibilities of ever stopping it's moaning?

The GTXP was a nice piece of hardware when it came out, but honestly if you're not taking advantage of all the connectivity features then it's really not worth running. It has crap eax support and overall sound quality that is far below the audigy 1, 2, and revo cards. My GTXP started fritzing two years ago, so I went Audigy and never looked back. You should be able to find an OEM versions of the Aud2 around $60, and OEM Aud1 cards for considerably less. If you think you'll miss the connectivity of the GTXP, then just save up for one of the better Audigy cards.
 
Have you tried it in other computers, or even in other PCI slots? Have you tried a different soundcard to ensure it is the problem?

I doubt you will be able to sell it used for very much (especially if it doesn't work correctly); I bought mine for $75 new.
 
Now I'm having problems while playing music files... It makes some kind of digital error noise. Like it hangs up on a certain note. Almost like scratching with turntables, only digital.
