GTX680 Availability?

Well it looks like they are going to bring more in soon. I didn't get one in the first round since I'm not in OMGWTFBBQGOTTAHAVE and I wanted to see reviews and so on. So I placed an order with Amazon. For those that haven't done such a thing, Amazon takes your order but doesn't charge you. You are then put in the queue, and they'll let you know when it ships and charge you then. They also provide updates if there's an expected date they'll be able to get it to you based on their orders.
Amazon sent me an update today saying they expect to have it to me the 27th. So looks like the expect a new batch on Monday. How big a batch of course I don't know. However that they expect it so soon seems to indicate that things are working on a fast pipline. Presumably nVidia is shipping finished chips to OEMs as soon as they get them and OEMs are shipping out finished cards to retailers as soon as they are done. Given the fairly high price per unit, they can use air shipping so even though the fabbing happens in Taiwan, it doesn't take that long to get things here.

I ordered at 8:19am MST (GMT-7, same as PDT).
However who knows what the fuck is happening, as I just (I mean like 10 minutes ago) got a ship notice. Not sure how the hell that happened. Not complaining mind you, but somehow it went from Tuesday to Friday for delivery.
Maybe they are just being nice to Prime members or something.
Hell if I know. At any rate I have to assume from the earlier e-mail that Amazon is getting more of them. How long you have to wait probably depends on where you are in the queue, and if anyone cancels. People do that sometimes because they get it elsewhere or the like.
If you are really in a hurry there does seem to be an asshat on Amazon listing them in stock for about $130 over retail ($630 total).
I was pleased that more came in stock through the day, that really impressed me as I was bummed out I missed the first batch.
Honestly I'm a bit sad that the ONLY thing available was reference cards and nothing like the EVGA SC/FTW/Classified editions and not getting 4GB versions but why would anyone buy the 2GB if the 4's launched at the same time.
That being said I fully expect to be able to pull pretty close to what I paid for it once the 680 4GB FTW editions come out so I can resell then pick one of those up.

with EVGA coming out with that new & improved warranty...it makes reselling even more less of a hassle!
I personally don't NEED 4gb of VRAM...I'm only single monitor...but I am interested in a totally custom PCB, with great OC potential...and most importantly, I want a SWEET ass cooler! If EVGA can make a cooler similar to MSI's twin frozr 3, that would be AMAZING....I wasn't too impressed with EVGA DS double shot style coolers....it was loud, and didn't cool as much as I thought...the MSI TF3 however, holy smokes!
Great stock on launch day IMO. I was able to snag an EVGA. Vendors are saying small waves will come in until the beginning of April when huge stocks are pushed through. There was a thread where a Tiger Direct CSA said they were getting about 100 per day until the big stock comes in.
Probably not more stock, actually, probably order cancellations or declined cards. Amazon in particular will let you cancel up until the order ships. So someone may have bought one, and then realized they really didn't have the money/need/whatever and canceled.
I was actually a bit on the fence. I want a new graphics card just because, well, I want
. However I don't need it and I was thinking of saving the money. I had Amazon stick me in the queue since I figured I'd have a couple days at least to think on it. However it shipped so there you go, done deal.

I picked up 2 EVGAs today at about 10:30am PST from Newegg. I was randomly refreshing while reading reviews and working. I happened to get lucky as those were the only ones in stock and went OOS shortly after I got my order in. Stock is pretty tight right now, but honestly doesn't seem any better or worse than the 7970 release in Jan.
They've already shipped. Gotta love Newegg for that.

At least you're running three monitors. There are probably a lot of people who spent $1K just to run a single 1080p display.

Tiger Direct pretty much created their supply out of thin air. They never had any and it appears they won't be getting any for about another week.
NewEgg is apparently adding them here and there, but I haven't been lucky enough to stumble upon them. Big retailers like Frys and Microcenter don't have them yet.
I'm 1/2 tempted to sell my 570 on Craigslist while these are still pretty scarce.

Yes, my 460s can't handle NVSurround very well. I got them before I upgraded to 3 monitors and they do ok for older/basic games, but even things like World of Warcraft and SWTOR cause them to run out of RAM and drop my frames to like 1-3fps occasionally.

Some people may actually have a single display 120hz monitor and use their cards for 3D vision which requires quite a bit of card power!
Tiger Direct supply is always shady at best on hot items. I much rather deal with amazon (if only they have more options in computer components).
