So... I just bought a 2600k, intel 520, ect ect... I'm looking for an upgrade to my GTX470. I really do not fanboy either side so yeah. Looking to spend 500$ max.

NOT looking for SLI/Xfire or duel GPU chips.

I am also open to b-stock/re-certs.

Any advice?

Time to bite the big one and buy HD7950. It's the only single card solution that will meet your needs. A well over clocked HD7950 should perform about as well as 2 GTX470s.

If I were in your shoes...
I'd build the 2600K system and you'll see a massive jump in performance from the current GTX470 card. That should hold you over until the new Nvidia release...just to see what it offers. At the very least it will give AMD the competition to bring the HD7950 prices down a bit. Then you can jump on one or the other.

^ same. I would wait for Nvidia's cards. If you can't then the obvious choice is a 7950. But the bang for buck ratio on that card is horrible in my opinion.

7950 or wait for nVidia's. Good upgrade strategy upgrading every other release - I do the same thing.

Your CPU is not that dated. I would not have upgraded to SB if I was on 1366, but I was on a Q6600/775.

sorry but he would see no difference upgrading from a first gen i7 at 4.2 to a 2600k with his gtx470.
