I have been out of the loop for awhile, but I am consider upgrading to the 8800 series of cards and I want to know which is better: the 8800GTX or the GTS, and which company is standing king atm?

Seriously.

Since you know what the 7000 series was, which was better? 7800gts or 7800gtx?

Apply logic

The answer is clearly the GTX, as the 7800GTS doesn't even exist!

To answer the OP's question, 8800GTX > 8800GTS > ATI HD2900XT

yeah, with your system, go for the 8800GTX... Not that the GTS is a bad card or anything. It plays everything I want, but go for the GTX.

Thanks to those who offered helpful answers. I had heard from a few people that the 8800GTS were good over clockers, and I had not heard much info about the GTXs overclocking capability, especially those from PNY.

So yea, thanks again.

Actually all A3 rev G80s (GTX and GTS) are great OCers, not that you will really need to OC with a GTX.

I'm not trying to be an ass about anything at all. But his question is easily answered by deductive logic just by simply visiting manufacturer's websites. Usually they list things in heiharchy and such that you could understand specs. Now as far as overclocking potential - I wasn't thinking the OP was relating to that...

You might look at the 8800 Ultra too. Newegg sells the MSI for $585 now. That's not a lot more than the GTX. MSI Ultra is the fastest clocked out of the box.
