Please post your overclock results. My system details are in my signature. I'm trying to see how much I can overclock my new cards and I'm looking for other peoples results to compare.

Currently GPU boost is 1515MHz and MEM is 8GHz. Please see details and Unigine results below. I appreciate any feedback.

Ok. I pushed my system to it's max. Not 100% stable but works with Heaven. I bumped my i7 920 CPU to 4GHz from 3.6GHz and changed my GPU speeds from 1300MHz (1515boost) and 8000MHz memory to 1375MHz (1560boost) and reduced memory to 7600MHz. I was able to go from my previous high of 2901 to 3089. It crashed a couple times so I won't be leaving it like this but it was able to complete a couple runs (other run was 3051). Not bad for a 7 year old CPU/MB combo and a couple GTX 970s.

Thoughts?

I maxed out power level and the extra voltage and can hold a boost of 1503 in game all the time. I gave up on using Heaven / Valley apps for anything other than novelty as it seemed to have no bearing on final performance in the games j play.

All I know is these cards overclock like crazy. I find that when I run 1515 GPU in games (1300 setting) and 7.6GHz for memory I get the best in game results. 8GHz memory works but runs the card hotter and did crash the driver a couple time in very long gaming sessions.

Overclocked does offer a huge performance increase. I'm noticing 10-20% increase in FPS depending on the game. Sometimes more. Mad Max for example at stock runs 100-120 fps in 2560x1600 everything maxed. Overlcocked I'm in the 120-150fps range. Its the game I've been playing mostly lately.

Stock speeds the can runs mid 70's temp wise and overclocked it runs about 10 degrees hotter. I've tried a custom fan profile and it'll run 5 degrees cooler but the fans get a little noisy and don't think it's worth it so I'll stick with auto for now. With auto the idle temps are much higher because the fans turn off but it's not a big deal and keeps the system quiet.

Throw that i7 920 away and get a 6 core xeon x5650. Instant x58 upgrade for $60, plus they tend to oc in the 4.2ghz range.

It has served me well, will be 7 years old in January. I'll be replacing it soon. X99 and 5820k in my future I think.
