Hello guys
I want to upgrade soon my GPU, which is GTX 660 Gigabyte OC
Do you think is okay if i go for GTX 770 ? Would my cpu be okay for this gpu ?
I have Intel I7 920
Thank you

i think you would be fine with that cpu, and you can always over clock if you feel like you need more cpu horse power.

you will be fine.. as Nauseous said, if overclocked better yet...

No ideas ?

Nobody can with certainly tell you any exact percent of performance gain, all depend on at what resolution will you be playing and what kind of games, the first thing you have to know, overclocking your chip to lets say 3.5GHZ, will guarantee your card being fully used, you will have more stable FPS, is to assure that you are feeding all the power needed by the GPU. And assure that you are keeping all the CPU related task ingame at the level of the GPU so less FPS drops, higher minimum, higher average. Its exploit the full potential of that GPU.. You can make some test and bench with overclocked CPU and not overclocked, about the cooler, its good, will do a good job keeping cold your chip, specially if you use a second fan to push/pull.. At what price will you be getting it?..

I know what you mean, but i don't want to spend 70 $ for a cpu cooler for OC, if i'd know that the performance gain is just about 9 - 10 %

I have the 930 @ 4GHz. I would recommend doing it, thats still a very good chip and will not be bottlenecked at all with a single gpu. Also, no need to spend 70 on a cooler, they're lots of lesser priced options.

As mentioned, OC'ing will help. If you can get it to 3.6 or above (shouldnt be an issue), then you will probably see a 30% increase in performance with your new GPU (this is a very rough estimate, and possibly low). I am referencing the CPUs performance here, and what it is capable of feeding the GPU. Getting it into the 3.6 - 4.0ghz range will certainly not bottleneck any GPU as mentioned above.

I have my i7-860, which is about 4 years old at 4.0ghz with HT on and my 680 (very similar to 770) still gets its full use at 1920x1080. This thing has served me very well. Cheers!

You no need to spend 70$ in a cooler, you can easy go and buy a cooler master hyper 212EVO or hyper 212X (if you can find it.. :( ) top cooler price/performance in the market (just IMO:eek:) also, the performance gain will just be much more than 9-10% truly. You will feel day/night diference overcloking to that points.. Some 920 at 3.8ghz-4.0ghz are still on pair with newer generation i7s.. So its a good benefit, enjoy a smooth gaming have no price;).

Thanks for helping me guys, and sorry for the double post.
I changed my mind, i already ordered this :
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608016
I will let you know when i have it, before i OC i want to read about, i never did an OC before. Also i hope i will be able to OC it @ 4.GHz, but my cpu is C0 / C1, and i heard that D0 / D1 are better
Thanks again
LE : and btw, there will be AMD R9 280X instead GTX 770, but i'm not 100 % sure about which graphic card i should pick
