GTX 690 Multi-GPU setting and multiple monitors question

In the nvidia display settings there's an option to set "multi-gpu" on or off, or to "Maximize 3d performance". It seems like the only option you can use to setup multiple monitors (to simply extend the desktop). is to disable the multi-gpu.

Does doing this only limit your system to using one gpu for your main monitor and seperates the other gpu for the other monitor? or is it still using both gpu's for the main monitor with a simple desktop extention.

Am i correct in assuming you can only use half the card's power on your main monitor when using multiple monitors?

Use NV Surround to get the best 3D performance over multiple monitors. If you want the best 3D performance - use a single monitor.
