GTX-680 getting hot while gaming

Just picked up an eVga GTX-680 4GB +FTW card, replacing my good old ATI 5870 1GB. The nVidia drivers had a lot of settings I wasn't used too, but think I set it up to be the best performer while gaming.

Anyways, was playing Planetside 2 last night, and I had my side panel off the case, because I was checking some stuff earlier. Just for fun, while gaming, I touched the GTX-680 in the case, and man that back-plate was very warm to the touch, and I put my hand behind the card, where it exhausts the air, and it was like a blow dryer warm air. The fan speed sounded normal, not too loud at all.

I guess all video cards get hot while gaming ? Just wondering is this is normal ?
 
Yeah. All GPU's get that hot. You can't really say if a card is overheating just by the touch since it's always going to be pretty hot. You have to actually get a program that monitors the heat so you can see the numbers.
 
You run at 98.6F, anything over that will feel warmer to the touch. 45C or 113F feels hot to most people and is perfectly normal and safe. Do you know your actual temps?
 
I will admit, Planetside 2 looks fucking amazing :eek: This card runs PS2 @ 2560 x 1600 res, full highest settings, and highest quality settings in nVidia 3D control panel.

Don't know the frame rates, but game feels butter smooth, no hiccups or chop at all.
