GTX 670 overclock help

Hi I just got my GTX 670 yesterday and am trying to overclock it. It is the Gigabyte Windforce 3 670. I am using the EVGA PrecisionX utility. It works fine to overclock, but it does not seem to apply the clock offset when the program is started. The slider is in the right spot, but the boost clock returns to stock every time. So it will not automatically overclock on Windows boot. The mem offset however is applied every time. I have to move the GPU clock offset to a new spot and back again, then apply it, then it will give me the boost I have set.

Anyone know anything about this?
Windows 7 64-bit, tried the latest release, and the latest beta drivers. I have also tried the MSI and Asus overclock utility, and they seem to do the same thing.
 
Best bet is to save a profile for 3D use and let it auto-apply when you launch a program. I can't tell you how to do it off the top of my head without the program in front of me but I can post back when I get home from work.
 
That is a known problem with PrecisionX, but I'm surprised that Afterburner does the same thing for you.
 
So I've played with it for a while, and it does save the clock offsets as profiles but it does NOT set your power target, which is also really annoying. I guess the program needs some work.

Well it seems that I was a bit hasty in complaining about Afterburner, I tried it again, and it seems I did not have the right box checked, it does seem to hold it's overclock between starts. So it must just be a problem with Precision X. One more question then, does Afterburner allow for frame limiting somewhere? And thanks by the way, not so frustrating knowing its just a software issue.
 
I have 2.2.0 and it does not have frame limiting, not sure if they've added it in 2.2.1 or the beta. You should be able to use Afterburner for setting the clocks, and then PrecisionX for frame limiting though - the overclock is set at the driver level, so once you have it set you don't need Afterburner running any longer.
 
Thanks a bunch Forceman, once I set the frame limiting with PrecisionX, it seems to keep that even without running the utility again. Now I can just use Afterburner with Windows start-up and it has the clocks set right. The on screen display is basically identical between the two, so this totally took care of it. That was driving me nuts, much appreciated.
 
good to know! I will be getting my card in the new few weeks, so commented here to come back and review :)
