Ok, here's what going on. I went from an i3-2120 and 2 6870s and was able to play a lot of recent games at 50~60 fps with vysnc on with no problems at 1080p res. I have since moved on to a 2500k with a gene z mobo with 8 gigs of ram using a gtx 580 matrix platinum. I have it powered by a seasonic x650 psu. i think that should be enough. using windows 7 64bit professional too.

Now I get horrible fps in games. I'm talking about 19fps in dead space 2 with settings on very high. 34 fps in kingdoms of amalur. These ran fine with the 6870s. I have no idea what to do. I searched online for answers but nothing ive tried has helped. I tried disabling the graphics processor on the cpu. That didn't help. Someone somewhere said to uninstall the nvidia hd audio driver. Don't know why but i tried that and still nothing.

This site has always been able to help me and that's why I'm posting here. There are some outstanding memebers on these forums and I'm sure someone can help me figure something out. Thanks for the time to read over this. Please let me know if you need more info and i'll reply right away.

well, i guess it was the most recent drivers. went to the previous driver version and everything works great now. first nvidia card since the 9800gt. now using a 120hz monitor is much more impressive.

Beta drivers or 295.73? I ask because I will be installing a GTX 580 either later today or tomorrow so don't want the same issue and have already downloaded 295.73 driver.

I was using the 295.73 drivers. Then i went to the 295.51. Solved my issues so now I'm good. You may not encounter the same problem though.

OK, thanks. I will download 295.51 just in case I do get the same issue.

I just installed my GTX 580 and ran the Heaven benchmark app and had no issues with 295.73 drivers. Below are my benches before and after installing GTX580.
