im looking to upgrade the card with a low profile variant without extra power requirements from the PSU. What should i pick when looking to upgrade from the GTX 560?

something faster than a 750Ti on a low profile? i mainly play FSX.
Also the 750Ti requires an additional 6 pin power connector.

I think Gigabyte does a 750Ti LP unit that doesn't require an additional 6-pin power link

In LP cards, I think the next best thing would be an R7-250, maybe? A little cheaper, but I don't think it would perform anywhere near as well as a 750Ti

Yeah, you're going to want at least a GTX 760 or R9 280 to get a real performance increase.

Really surprised anyone bothered to make a low profile 560, are you sure you got the right model?

With an LP form-factor constraint, you're going to find that your options are extremely limited and generally low-performance.

No a typical 750 ti does not need 6 pin. Only a couple of factory oced cards have that.

how about just the power constraint and not LP constraint does that bring more options on the table?

slightly. a 750Ti is about the best you can get that doesn't need a 6 pin power connector

well then i guess i'm stuck with the 560 for some more time. one would have thought nvidia would have managed to cram the 560GTX performance in some LProfile and Lpower card by now. Guess tech doesnt move as fast as that. :(

Overall the 750 ti is a little faster than the non Ti 560 while using 1/3 of the power. I would say that's mighty impressive getting THREE times performance per watt considering the 750 ti is only a single process node better.

last night when i checked 750Ti had 1/2-1/3rd the SPUs compared to 560GTX too. So that's not surprising.

Probably brings fewer options, actually. Kick back and wait on the 800 (or 900 or whatever they're callin' em) series and see what happens there.

Are you sure you have a gtx 560? They all took one if not two 6pin connectors. They are also pretty power hungry.

Methinks something is amiss here.
