hi guys!!!
i think ive fried my Asus gtx 550 ti . ive got heat discoloring on the video port / vent and on some streaked colors(mostly red) on desk top and when playing games . i have only just started to see it recently and only when i threw my hd tv 24" on it threw HDMI. i dismantled the rig to prevent damage to mobo an other things  probly thanks to the crappiest case probly ever made A.K.A thermaltake armor+mx an it was a purchase made way back when i didnt know what i know now.

dead gpu?what do you guys think?

picture??.. without pics its hard to know... could be anything, damaged cable, damaged video output, damaged or overheathing vRAM and few other things.. so as i always say, a picture worth more than 1000 words.. =D

ok i dont have picture sadly and dont want to risk frying anything else if i have .just imagine red short lines in all the dark colored areas.if not possible to diagnose threw description i understand :D

You could always try re thermal pasting the gpu, maybe it dried up over time. A good can of air to blow out your dust is good too. Arctic mx4 is pretty good stuff that is fairly low cost. But generally the lines like you are describing are indicative of something going funky. Another suggestion would be to hook it to another set of the 12v rails off the power supply to see if that is the root cause.

Is there a fan on the card? If yes, did you clean it up and make sure the fan is working? If yes, then re-applying thermal paste to the GPU is another good test.

yea will have to reapply thermal paste .cleaned it first an check if it was heat issues.also my power supplys single 12v rail i think

i checked its the same 3 rail psu im just gonna rebuild rig from ground up except for ram ssd and such  wife doesnt like the idea may actual buy a prebuilt cuz im lazy from xidax who knows

ok i got the situation handled its was a HDMI cord. stupid cords ....
on another note does anyone know of a place/brand of hdmi cord that is real high quality.
