I have a G73jw and want to update the graphics card. is it possible to get the GTX 485M in stall it into my laptop. where can i look at more information like this?!
 
A quick search did not hint that the graphics chipset is replaceable for that notebook. Are you sure that the graphics are not soldered to the system board? If it is you are out of luck.
Something like this should be mentioned somewhere in the manual.
 
The gpu's are replaceable. However, Asus uses a proprietary gpu form factor so you would need a GTX 485M from another asus notebook. Which Asus still has not made.

So, for now no you cannot upgrade the gpu to a GTX 485M.
 
In addition, upgrading notebook graphics is very expensive for the returns.
 
No, the graphics interface/slot in a G73 is not the MXM standard. You will not be able to change out the GPU unless Asus comes out with a laptop with a GTX 485 that has the same form factor as the G73s -- and even then, it would be an extremely slim chance you'd be able to find just the GPU to buy.
 
TBH even if you can upgrade you GFX it's really hard to find OEM laptop graphics cards and they are usually really expensive. it owuld be nice if somone like newegg sold them but I guess theres just not enough of a market.
