Hey guys. In hot deals there is a post about EVGA GTX 260's for 225 after MIR. I just wonder if I get one of those, will my power supply be able to handle it. I don't see anything about the 12V rails or anything like that on the video card. What am I looking for?

 
GTX260 requires a minimum 500 watt power supply able to give a minimum of 36A on the 12V rail. The 650 watt power supply you link to has 3 19A rails and 2 PCI-E power connectors. You shouldn't have any problems.

Correct, you should be fine with that power supply. I run mine off a Corsair HX520 ;)

Heck you could probably run a 8800GT in the same box if you don't have a bunch of HHD and stuff.

I just bought it and I am so excited. I have a couple more questions now.


With a dual core E6420 overclocked to 3.2 and this puppy, can I run 1 GPU and 1 SMP or would I just be better off going console client for my second one?

What kind of PPD can I expect out of my computer now?

If I cut out the UPC for the MIR will that void my opportunity for step up in the future if I wanted to?

Good question, shouldn't cause a problem but I'll ask on the NCIX forum (they are a nvidia launch partner, lots of MIR offered on site) about that.



 
Someone replied that he did try to Step-up with the upc cut off the box and it went without issues. If we think about that, it's EVGA itself who offer rebates so it's logical to not cut the grass off owners who took advantage of the MIR.
