Hey guys.... just got a used gtx 260 from these forums.....

I have a problem, it ran fine @ stock speeds for about 2 weeks.
I now it if it runs stock speeds it will give me a blank screen and I will have to restart the system. If I run @ 500/800 versus 576/999 it will NOT give me A black blank screen. Any thoughts?

Are you monitoring the temps to see what the card is running at?

You could try applying some good quality thermal paste, but you should probably run something like MSI afterburner to see what's going on first.

Does it happen in windows when nothing is happening? Or during a game? If its during a game it could be a number of things. Heat, PSU, or just a GPU thats not stable. Also try changing the clock speeds of one thing only.

Also keep the CPU at stock speeds, and mess with memory only and vice versa. This mainly to see what causes it. If both need to be downclocked or just one.

OK guys..... I removed the back plastic cover from the card and also noticed one of the pins from the pci-e power plug was spread open more than the other 5. So fixing the power pin and back cover removed I am @ 650/1150 NO issues!! I'm thinking it was the power plug not making good contact.

OK, update.... it looks like it was MSI AFTERBURNER causing issues, you need to disable low-level hardware detection when playing any punkbuster game, funny thing it would only crash with BFBC2. Same thing started to happen with my new 6850s.
